New models like that don't come out that early in the year unless they're rushing the models release dates (usually if it's an entirely new model or at least one that has significant updates) or if it's too late in the year to release it as that model year. For example, the first U.S. Evo was released in March 2003 as a 2003 model, as it was early enough into the year to not seem too behind. To not let Mitsubishi have too much of the spotlight, the facelifted 2004 WRX was released a couple months later while the 2004 STi (sharing the same facelift) was released in June 2003.

Since the 2014s likely won't have significant updates from the 2013 models, I would expect to see them around August 2013 at the earliest. New model years of current models typically get released at the end of summer or early/mid fall.

Not true the 2013 scion iq are already out, the 2012 models where out for less than 8 months. Figure than the 2014 model FR-S will be out early spring 2013 or maybe even winter 2013...ie January 2013. So 6-7 months from now..

Release series 1.0 will be out then too.

Think about it, they are only going to make so many units of 2013 fr-s/BRZ/86. If they reach the quota by end of November 2012, then what they make in January and feb will be 2014 models.

It also depends on what kind of changes if any the 2014 model are going to have.

The 2013 tC is already out, the iQ isn't yet.

the one thats out now in 2012 is the 2013, the next one to come out in 2013 will be the 2014. it will be out sooner than you think, with condensation free tail lights, a rattle free transmission, an improved intake system, and fixes for all the other small things the 2013 beta testers find.

I agree on the '13 MY being a long production run year... It may be a long while until we see the next MY.

All the best, OP.
