So update on this:
Just brought my car into a second dealer last night and after speaking to a tech stating what work was done on my vehicle from the first dealership. I told them I had my headgaskets replaced and also the valve spring recall done. I also told them the dealership is now stating my heads are bad and that they are not responsible for that damage. The tech at the second dealership stated to me that they would have known right away that my heads are bad when doing a headgasket job on my vehicle because it states in the instructions that they must inspect the heads when performing a headgasket job. The first dealership never notified me that my heads were bad prior the work done on the vehicle. I can't tell if this is good news yet, but time will only tell.

Did this dealer let you see why your VIN is flagged, or state your car is too low "stock"

They will be confirming everything today, and after speaking with corporate. They deemed the flag to be internal through the first dealership and should have never been placed.

Looks more like an inner sacked town but I am still honoured.

Spoke w/ service manager @ dealership again today, who has been great throughout this entire mess. My car is at 71k miles, and showed signs of major trouble at 570 miles after valve recall work. Also of great importance, I bought the car as a "Toyota Certified" vehicle with the drivetrain warranted until 100k or July 2019. The dealership is providing me with a full new engine; short block, heads, cams, etc., under warranty and without any argument, which I truly appreciate. They'll also be installing a new clutch and TOB for the cost of the parts and flywheel machining, even though they felt it was unnecessary because those parts are still in excellent condition.

Here's where it gets interesting. When I asked what they felt was the cause of the engine failure, he mentioned that the rings had deteriorated, leaving gaps where the broken off pieces got through, scoring the cylinders and damaging the rod bearings, especially #4. I asked about causes of ring failure, and suggested oil starvation, sealant issues, clogged oil pickup tube or screens, etc., and he said there were no issues with the sealant application nor evidence of blockage. The only theory he offered was poor quality control in manufacturing, saying his master tech is "even more anal" than I am about the cars he works on. I appreciated that.
Sooooo... who knows. In my case, I think the "Certified" warranty is saving my bacon AND making it easier for my dealership to get this covered by corporate. If I understand them correctly, they are saying my failure was NOT caused by faulty implementation of the valve recall procedure.
Don't know if that's helpful to anyone else or not, but that's the update on my saga. Probably won't have the car back for another month, but I still view the care I'm receiving from this dealership as exemplary.

Yeah that’s a load of BS but at least they are taking care of it. Well, your warranty is anyways. That’s probably why they are blaming wear rather than workmanship. If you rings were worn they would allow blow by causing you to burn oil and possibly starve the engine due to low oil but you would see a cloud behind you if your rings were that bad.
