Some shops are. Several in my area advertise as such on the radio.
Most people find it hard to justify killing yourself for 10 hours a day (when the "work day" is supposed to be 8) day in and day out to make the same money no matter what. So then they add a bonus for hours and the whole salary concept goes out the window. You would have to have a good group of techs, pay them fairly and trust that work will get done. Trust that work will get done... that's the hard part. Edit: Pay them fairly is the other hard part. $30 an hour, making 60 hours a week, you make $93.6k a year. Walk in and say "I want $100k a year salary, I promise I'll be here at 6am to get that car done!" doesn't go over as well. |

So now that I have been notified by Toyota that my car is part of the recall, I'm guessing they made a note of that in their system. (Note to self - maybe you shouldn't have had the dealership install your tires, giving them a chance to notify you in person that your car is included in a valve spring recall. D'oh.)
The way I understand it now is if the valve springs do fail, I'll be eating whatever the cost of damage is to the rest of the engine (ie the dealer still covers valve spring replacement, but not anything that has to be done because I failed to have the recall done before the spring(s) failed). I think I'd probably still prefer the odds of the valve spring breaking compared to the apparently worse odds of having a spun bearing or other oil starvation issue due to recall work not being performed perfectly. Unless of course I can get some kind of assurance that if there is an oil starvation issue within a reasonable amount of time/mileage that they will cover all the repairs.

If it was me... I'd ask to talk to the tech thats going to do the work and offer him money to take extra time. Theres no laws on bribing someone to take more time than required... Again, thats me. |

Couldn't take it, only made it about 30 seconds into it. I'm guessing there wasn't anything new in it though.

He keeps referencing his "customers". Look to his left. Now look to his right. Do you really want this man working on your car?

The man is an idiot but for whatever reason a lot of people view his channel. So at least if gives the problem some exposure.
