what, you mean actual reality? Every single thing I said is factually true.

Our electric grid sucks. It can't even support what we need it to right now, never mind if even 25% of the population had electric cars. That's a fact.

The only reason anyone makes an electric car is because of the foolish carb mandates. The Hyundai Kona Electric, Car and Driver's absolute favorite electric car, is only sold in California. Gee, I wonder why?

And most importantly, No one wants electric vehicles. Resale values are total crap. Everyone understands this. Well, everyone but you apparently.

Only worth .02.....
But if I had to do it again, I would get a limited manual instead of the auto I got....Simply for the reason that you have 5 useful gears on a manual, and even with a 4.88 rear end..really only have 4 gears with two huge overdrives on the auto...

And I would spend the extra money on the P.P....(Wasn't available in '14)

Actually that article explains why the resale price isn't total crap.

Also, it forgets to mention that a huge percentage of the Leafs currently on sale used are off lease units. Why? Well 3 to 4 years ago thanks to state and federal incentives it was basically possible to lease a Leaf for three years for net zero cost, because the $14,000 combined incentives could be used against the lease cost.

Still wouldn't own one, but if I was going to, it would be a used one definitely not new.

You are acting as if the PP parts are exactly the same as the Premium trim parts, only with a different brand name on them. Did I say that Brembo is better than “Stoptech,Powerstop, Baer, or Willwood”? No I did not. Are the Brembos included with the PP an upgrade over the stock brakes on the Premium BRZ? Yes... only a fool would claim otherwise. Are the Sachs dampers with the PP the best in the world? No... nobody is claiming that. Are they an upgrade over the Premium model BRZ? Again, yes they are.
The upgrades that you get for $1,100 (in reality they don’t even add that much to the price of the car unless you pay MSRP for some unknown reason) with the PP are better than what you could source yourself for the same money and are a steal for the price... and they are upgrades compared to the Premium parts, that was my point.
Appreciate the feedback. My statements are not a rant, merely an observation that brand names are being used to sell/promote the package. I'm not disagreeing that the PP is a smokin deal, which it is; my thing is Subaru using (certain) brand names to sell the package.

Sometimes parts have more clout, or street cred, if they have a certain name that people are more familiar with.

Subaru could have just used the terms larger brakes, sport/performance dampers and "XXYY" wheels. Names of the parts used are irrelevant, but the parts themselves are not.

And yes, I am waiting on the 2019 BRZs here in OH as I wasn't quite ready at the end of 2018 to get a new car. 2019 is a different story.

It uses those terms, but it also shows that the cars resale values are lower than similar or better gas powered cars. It is actually a fair article.

The build quality and materials in a Tesla make a Civic feel like a Mercedes. People think the Twins rattle a lot. Well they haven’t spent much time in a Tesla. Hell the doors don’t even close consistently on my coworkers car. This coworker’s office is 15 steps away from mine. We are software devs and love technology so he drives me nuts going on and on about what new things Tesla is doing or planning to do with the software. Cool stuff but damn dude I’m trying to get work done. Hahaha

But I agree, if GM built a rattle box the media would go nuts. The Tesla is basically all alone right now. When the mission-e comes out things will probably change.

Regardless, I’d never own an EV. I’ve never been one that focuses on break neck acceleration. It’s more about handling for me and the Tesla is a freaking tank. They have a crazy long wheel base and track. The car is enormous and heavy as crap. The batteries overheat if you put it on a racetrack. It’s just not for me. My coworker begs me to drive his and I feel bad telling him I’m just not interested. Hahaha. If he offered a ride in an F80 or 718 I’d be all over it though. Every time it breaks he offers to let me drive the loaner thinking I’d be more willing to drive it because it isn’t his. Nope, just not excited by it.

Have you asked him if Tesla is going to be able to fix his doors via software?

Manual driver checking in.

I foresee a day when row-your-own is an upcharge that I'll be ok with paying.

I love your optimism and hope you are right. I'd be totally fine paying extra. But I have serious doubts this will ever happen.

You cannot get a PP on an automatic BRZ. Take internet pricing with a grain of salt, as when you actually talk to a salesperson and negotiate a bit, you typically can get an auto BRZ for at least 1-2 grand cheaper than a PP BRZ. When I was shopping for my car, I had salespeople throw autos at me hoping I would take the cheaper deal.
