Fog Lights With Smaller Housings

Howdy All,

I have a 2017 BRZ Limited with factory foglights. The housings on the foglights extend far enough that it's making fitment problems with additional aftermarket radiators within the area behind the foglights. I noticed now that I have a small tear in my front fender liners where my tires have caught against the metal brackets protruding back which cannot be moved forward due to the fog light housings.

I'd like to install aftermarket fog lights instead, which have smaller housings, but I don't see many which show dimensions. Any recommendations from the community on what aftermarket foglights have the smallest housing? Preferably something LED.

What I'm primarily considering right now are these: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/olm-...-forester.html but I'm not sure if they work properly on a 2017MY.

Thanks!

i think you're out of luck. i've got access to the nolden/rostra, as well as the diode dynamics/trs iterations, and all of them are roughly about the same size.

you could entertain running a '13-16 oem reflector housing, as you'll gain millimeters without the led heatsink, but those are purely aesthetic/decorator fogs, and have zero usable output.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but it doesn't look like mine has LED foglights. In the photos it looks like most aftermarket foglights are smaller housing sizes than the factory foglights. I think only the 2017+ 86s have LED foglights, I don't think it's true on the BRZs.

these are the same as your's, right?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-2017-S...temCondition=4

because those are reflector led fog lights. same depth issue as any aftermarket led option.

this is the '13-15 option i'm talking about-- notice how the mounting bracket is much more 'bare' than the led options.

like i said, it's not a whole lot, and you'll loose any sort of visible output in the process, but they are technically thinner.

I wish I'd taken pictures when I had my bumper off last. I will probably be taking the bumper off again very soon anyway, so at that point in time I'll take some photos and measurements.

if it were me, i would get some black ABS sheet, and while the bumper is off, just cut some blanking plates for the fog light openings, because radiators are more important than fog lights, and the hassle of keeping the fog lights functional is not worth the damage.

To be honest, I'm really strongly considering this. The fog lights are kind of annoying to work around and take up a lot of space, but I am also trying to keep the car relatively "stock looking" on the outside, and a Subaru without fog lights is suspicious. I may not have a choice though. If I ever add in brake ducting, it's a no brainer that the fog lights will have to go.

do the premium '17's come with fogs now too? because the '13-16, only the limited trim's got fogs, the premium's just had a continuation of the 'fins' of the grille where the fogs should go.

point is, not all subaru 86's have had fogs. only the elitist ones
