This is the third BRZ I see in this forum smashed really bad. Is there something wrong with the design as to why it looks so terrible after the accident? I am so terrified folks.

Quite the reverse. The car crumples on purpose to protect the driver. It is a very important safety design feature not a problem. Don't judge by the damage to the car judge by the lack of damage to the driver and passenger. Your car will sacrifice itself to keep you safe!

I'm still amazed at how many of these I see with severe damage yet the cockpit is still intact. The front crumple zones are especially well designed and incredible IMO.

I see the same issue in Aviation. This car is a GOOD SPORTS CAR! However it is usually the first sports car a lot of inexperienced drivers own. The inexperienced mistakes happpen. There will be a lot of people post on what good drivers they are but they were bad drivers at one point and made a lot of mistakes!!!! Just google “Mustang Crowd” if you want to see entertainment on a car above a drivers ability!

Yes, the modern crash standards will keep you alive in crashed that would have most certainly been fatal not that long ago. The cars do take way more damage but that damage absorbs the force of the impact instead of transferring it to your body.
For years people thought that bigger and heavier were safer but that wasn't accurate.
This video shows the difference really well.

Which car you would you rather be in? Keep in mind that the 86/BRZ is miles better than even the Malibu.

Looks terrible but I walked away scratch free, just a little shaken up.

Don't worry they made more of them. It does suck you had just paid it off though.

Same here, first new car I bought and with it all paid off I can't bring myself to let go of it. I'd be bummed if this happened but I'd probably be asking myself if I should get a new one... Any thoughts on replacing your BRZ with a newer BRZ? tS?
