Trunk won't open

Even the physical key won't get it. I loaded in some groceries near the inside switch, and I'm guessing I bumped and caused it to engage. The interior release button and remote won't do it. I even got out my spare key and tried it. No luck. I installed an LED dome light with the gizmo to regulate polarity recently, but it worked a few times after that.

I don't see any easy access from inside the car.

By spare, do you mean the valet key? That doesn't work in the lock. The regular key does.

So to recap, you put the regular key in the lock on the trunk kid and it wouldn't open?

Well, I'm used to cars that you get out to crank to start, so this keyless stuff is new to me. There's a little key embedded in the fob that I removed and put in the trunk-key slot. Is that the valet key? It's all I have and it doesn't open the trunk. It can only go in one way because of the plastic piece at the top, and it won't turn in the lock.

What about the button inside the car by the driver’s seat?

'14 Monogram Edition with keyless ignition. The PO gave me two electronic sending-unit fobs that have a little metal key that slides out and will fit in the trunk slot, but unless I'm doing something wrong, won't open it.

Hate to say it, but sounds like you are doing something wrong. Physical key opens lock. Did you try your physical (metal) key in the door?

You can squeeze your hands in the crack to the left and right side of the back seat, feel around for the pulls you can grab them and pull them through the cracks, pull both and you can get the seats down from the inside.

Just flop the rear seat down, push the valet button, and then push the trunk button. (flop the seat by lifting up on the button's bezels on the top of the rear seat, they will pop off, then pull up on the buttons)

You're not the first one who was afraid to turn the key. Glad you got it figured out.

And that's OK. Just remember to set the brake, gas and spark and you do remember what NOT to do with your thumb -
