Question: What did you use to break the lug nuts loose? I'd guess the size of the wheel studs are roughly: M12x1.25 thread pitch and length humfrz |

To break the lugs loose I used a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar. To tighten them I used a 1/2 inch drive torque wrench. |

Yep, I remember, back-in-the-day, when I did some wrenching, if I buggered up something, I would smash it to smithereens with a big fucking hammer - it didn't fix it but, it made me feel a hell of a lot better - As far as lug nuts, anytime I have used this type of lug wrench, I've never twisted off a stud. However, with the lug thing that comes with lots of cars and socket set breaker bar, not quite so lucky. It's my understanding that the wheel studs on this car are weak - maybe they were made by the same folks that made the valve springs - humfrz |

I googled the stud size and came across tons of forum posts about them snapping, numerus YouTube videos on how to replace them, etc, so this does seem like quite a widespread issue. My search brought up this guy's BRZ blog post about how he kept snapping them, which was helpful because his post contained a part number (610566) for some hardened steel studs that are the same size as the stock ones. It's a Dorman part number, so my local NAPA, Auto Zone, or whatever should have them. |

Bought the car in NE a few days ago, and it had a front plate/bracket installed, but we don't have/require front plates in KS. So, rather than driving around with a couple of ugly holes in the front bumper, I ordered a couple of Halo white bumper plugs. Excuse me... "World Famous Bumper Plugs":
