Want to buy FRS. Family says no because of maintenance concerns

Since warranty ran out I do mine at about 20,000K. Due to the nature of my all highway driving even at 20K it comes out looking like new. Not a hope I would do that long if I pushed it or did stop and go.

I agree with you. But.... if you could disconnect or remove the TC/VSC buttons without them being knowledgeable enough to work around it, it isn't a bad car at all. I know I would be dead if my first car was a Twin or any RWD with LSD for that matter. I was a total nutjob (well I still am) in a car when I was younger. A bunch of my racing friends got into sport bikes for a while and they all begged me to get one. I knew for sure I didn't have the self control to stay alive on a bike. I promised myself I would never buy a bike and I stand by that to this day. Hahaha. But I would really love to have a sport bike.

With the value of land here in the bay area we don't have many large yards anymore, and the pick and pull swaps out cars pretty quick. They have a website where you can check their current inventory in their bay area locations.

haha, always a love hate relationship with finding a good part from a wrecked car... don't like seeing them like that but do like taking the parts lol.

I was the king of finding parts in the wreckers! It was surprising just how many of both were still sitting out in the back 40 of some of the local yards. Unfortunately it is a resource that is fast drying up as communities grow into the areas where yards were and they disappear forever.

From 2000 to 2005 my DD was a 1970 Jeep J-3000 Gladiator. I was a regular at the pick n pull. I was amazed how quickly i found all the original parts to upgrade the manual steering and brakes to power. Since then a lot of the yards are now housing.

Still not necessary. Oil required for the Twins is super thin and synthetic,so it's made to last longer than your common 10w30.If you split the difference,at 13000km,which is just over 8k miles,I'm 99.999% sure it's safe to go 7500 without a change.I'm also pretty sure the engineers wouldn't recommend going that long without changing unless they were absolutely sure as well,which would be backed up by extensive testing.

Again,just check it to see. 4k mile after a change and it will still look pretty clean.I've noticed that it doesn't even start to get "dark" until after around 6k+ mile,and even then,it's just a little darker and not necessarily dirty looking.

Bought my car in 2015 and have only changed my oil three times,soon to be my fourth. I love not having to change my oil so often anymore.

My oil cost (roughly) $30 for 6 quarts at Walmart. hitting 4500-5k takes me a few months regardless and my OEM Subie Black filter is $7 on amazon.

not a big deal to me, not really a waste in my eyes to consistently have clean oil in my car.

my local pick-n-pull's never have stocked anything newer then 2008. there was an '08 mustang once. it was so stripped down, parts of the unibody were missing...

you mean removing like removing the ability to turn them off? that makes me I say kids wanna drift... take em to the track and let them go ahead... once they (probably) violently spin out the first couple of times they will understand the implications of doing this on public roads.

This. That's also why I support it as a car choice for teenagers.


1. If you're going to own a lot of RWD cars later on in life, you might as well learn on one, and learn how to properly control it.


2. Decent on gas, not so overpowered that it is easy to lose control, reliable and very simplistic so things are unlikely to break very often. In other words, safe and practical.


Really the only downside is insurance is probably outrageous because of all the dummies that crash them.
