A city close by to me was using an empty car with a mannequin in it sitting in the middle of the median just like on the movie Supertrooopers. It was so funny, I pulled over and took a picture of that "dummy".

Weird because if you normally speed then you'd normally have a radar detector and it would render the dummy useless.
If they concentrated the effort in to actually get the real people who cause most accidents..."swervy" elderly, cell phone users, driving impaired etc...they could scrap this silliness.
At least they used a cruiser with tinted windows to try and conceal their shenanigans. That CA one is hilarious.

I was in my work vehicle and driving normal but after seeing him there in the same spot 3 days in a row I figured I would check it out closer
and see if the officer had died in his car from the FL heat and was rotting.

Nah, I knew it was a dummy because I slowed down to almost a stop beside it and looked in. I wanted a picture because that is never done here.

But what if there is a real cop in the car 1 out of 5 times, or something like that? Never know. Maybe they just park a car there every day and sometimes it's a live officer and sometimes a mannequin. Just on a rotation of sorts. Mannequin gets people used to seeing the car there, people assume that's all it is, then a real cop appears and tickets you. It could happen, right?

I always thought those might be a good idea. I just figured the local gov't was more concerned about raising revenue than actually making things safer.

That's a great idea, reduce peoples fear of the police being actually in the car. That way when they are really out there on the highway people exercise less caution...
