I would think Toyota would set things right (maybe not with the cricket noise, since they say it's normal), but I fully expect my taillights to be replaced if they need to be.

The TRD version is up to you. I don't think a factory turbo is coming, so if that's what you want, I would do that aftermarket. If you just like the TRD package for the styling, I would think it would make sense to wait for it.

That would be a great, and well, expected service IMHO.
They'll issue TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) to their service departments explaining how to fix recognized design issues. Some of the fixes will include revised parts. But you'll generally have to mention the problem (complain) to get the fix. Recalls are generally reserved for safety issues I believe.

IMO if Toyota does a TRD version with FI they would go supercharger. I think it's more likely that they'll just release TRD kits and parts so someone can get what they want and leave the rest.

However, while people keep assuming that Subaru and Toyota will release FI versions to the point where some people believe it's a given there has not been any word, that I've seen, from either company that they'd do so. They've obviously explored it and may use the engine w/ FI in other models (WRX) but they've never said that they'd go FI on the 86. Subaru's STI looks to all be lighter weight parts, suspension, brakes and TRD is most likely about the same.
