On the bright side... I often search for civics when I need a beater car to drive while I'm looking for another long-term car solution. Portable glasses houses notwithstanding

Completely different markets. Very few people who are seriously looking at a hot hatch say to themselves "Yeah, I'll take the vehicle that's a foot or more longer, uses 30% more fuel, doesn't have a hatch and only fits children or adults under 5 ft 4 in the back seats".

Mustangs and Camaros were not even on our radar when my wife and I leased the Golf R.

The LC500 is such a stunning looking thing. Seeing pics of it I was like "yeah it's nice". Seeing it in person my head damn near popped off from turning my neck

I'd agree that it looks amazing. It's also ridiculously heavy - which is fine for what it is, but I think it's funny that journalists keep taking it to the track, because no owner is going to do so.

Agreed. I actually did switch from a hot hatch (Focus RS) to a Camaro SS but all of those negatives are meaningless to me (although, the Camaro has been getting BETTER average fuel economy - at ~70mph it gets over 30mpg).

Luckily I have a truck and other cars so losing the practicality wasn't a problem. For a single car to do it all there is no way I could own the Camaro.

I think if I were buying a new hot hatch today, the CTR would be the only choice unless I wanted a more luxurious interior.. before it would have been a Focus RS again. I hate having to run the heater on full blast in a buddies CTR when on track.

The LC500 is pornography in automotive form. Lexus Canada has one with exhaust work at their headquarters and it sounds amaaaaaazing. I didn't think it was possible, but Lexus out-Aston Martined Aston Martin. If I had the means to buy something in its class, I would take it over any GT car (including the AMG GT). It's that special inside and out.
