Pin code access

I just got a 2018 brz in oct. Love the car. I found some info that it has a pin code access. Just wondering if any one on here has used it before on their brz. I do a lot of biking and running and it would be great to leave keys behind and not carry them while running/biking. Thanks

This is the first time I've seen any mention of this, would be nice if it was included but I don't know whether or not it is.

Wow. I don't want to be a pessimist, but ...

The video from Frank's Subaru doesn't show them actually locking the keys in the car.

Even the actors don't look comfortable locking their keys, and other valuables like their cell phones, in the car, with a questionable unlocking mechanism, while camping thirty miles from the nearest form of civilization.

I'm in the IT profession, and I'm a big fan of cool tech, but I have seen technology like this go south too often. There are way too many knuckle-heads out there.

"Press-press, beep, press, chirp. Or was it chirp-chirp, press, beep-beep? Honey, hand me that big rock over there."

Still, I'm a curious guy so: I'll have to try this on my 2017. Wish me luck, I'll probably, somehow, get locked in the car with the keys outside on the sidewalk.

You sound like one of those people who refuses to buy a car with push-to-start because you think that "newfangled technology" is way too likely to not work half the time, so you'd rather have a good ol'-fashioned key to turn just like your trusty 30-year-old Ford that never let you down.

This doesn't seem all that complicated to use once set up... unless you suck at remembering a pin code...

I fall into this category. Having worked for AAA and having to break into people's cars often enough because of their batteries dying while they're skiing or at their lodge because they left the lights on, I would feel dumb knowingly locking my keys in the vehicle thinking I'll be ok.

I do want to assert that the technology likely does work well, just don't RELY on it and knowingly put yourself in a bad spot. That's just awful advice. I get the idea, but if you can't find a good place for your keys, why would a fob be any better?

Yeah I reset people's passwords regularly. Sometimes its the user's fault, sometimes it isn't.

I actually like my newfangled push-to-start-keyless access!

But as Dark Pirate says, I'd feel really silly locking my keys in the car whether it's because I forgot the proper sequence of button pushes, or I set it incorrectly based on the feedback
of beeps. I'll try it with the second set of keys nearby.

Sometimes my car beeps at odd times, and I'm not always sure why. It has something to do with the timing between getting out of the car and pushing the stop engine button.

Car beeps if you open the driver's door before stopping the engine, and will continue to beep even after the engine is off until the door is closed.
