the hyundai r-spec is heavy (like 3200 lbs i think) and has about 210 hp, won't be a competition until an owner hits aftermarket or steps up to that 300hp model.

Right but the R-Spec that they're showing starts at $23,750, AND it's still boosted. I might seriously consider this if they keep the R-Spec going if the 86 ends up not being boosted.

Because you came to this site for the same reasons we all did: the thought of driving the spiritual successor to the AE86. A lightweight, rev-happy, RWD coupe. You weren't on Genesis websites preparing to buy that car (I'm presuming, but I think it's a safe bet).

Why would you be surprised AE86 enthusiasts want to buy a car thats supposed to mirror their cars?

I can't afford to do anything to my car, except necessary small repairs to keep it running. Its called college.

Most AE86 enthusiasts are stoked about this car. It really comes down to can Toyota stay true to their word and produce a car that actually feels like a successor to the 86 namesake, and not some sell out version to appease the masses. Once we get more information, specifically weight, hp/tq numbers, powerband, redline, etc. then I think more ae86 fans will be able to choose one way or the other. Right now it seems like a lot of them are on the fence with this car (well, at club4ag at least).

How long have these "posers" owned their 86's? Most posers can't own one for more than 1-1.5 years before they sell it because they just lose interest, or the car starts having problems and showing its age.

Yeah, same here. I'm surprised too. I for one, don't like Gensis. Never liked the face and the rear design.

Really? Isn't the base model is around $21k (& turbo)?
2010 Hyundai Gensis Models:
2.0T Base - $21k
2.0T R-Spec - $23k
2.0T Track - $27k
3.8 Base - $25k
3.8 GT - $29k
3.8 Track - $31k
Well, that's what I read in KBB anyways. So it's about same as 2010 Mx-5 is ($23k~$30k).

I haven't seen Genesis around here. Only one I have seen is Vid of Rhys Millen's Genesis doin' Pike Peek, so I have no clue on stock performance and all other stuff.

No cruise control? No sunroof?

Deal breaker for me.
