Wolf's Chemicals Hard Body?

Anyone heard of it? Looks to be more of a sealant than a ceramic coating like opti coat.

Anyone had experience with both to compare?

I wouldn't spend your money right now - let the other people(the non vendors selling it) show whether its worth the money or not.

Alot of these "coating" products are just different polymers in stronger carriers but otherwise don't last as long as they claim to.(and this is with diehard car care guys using them, not car wash or neglected stuff).

Every new to the market product is the latest and greatest when a vendor is selling them.

I just got mine done. Didn't cost me much. I picked this over opticoat for the supposed scratch resistant properties. You can wait it out if you want, but I would rather keep my paint pristine.

I got mine done at the same time as 2forme, Rick from Unique Car Care in Wakefield, MA applied it for us. 2forme and myself are actually beta testers for the product as Rick is personal friends with the creator of the product at Wolf. He got the bottle of product for free and we let him use it on our cars. So far I have to say...this stuff looks freaking amazing. It is super shiny (unlike opticoat) and is supposed to last for at least 2.5 years. It's a 9H coating so it resists scratching and helps make washing easier. We'll see how well it holds up over the next coming weeks.

Sorry, I shouldn't have said shiny. I meant smooth, I've gone a touched an opticoated car and it has a weird texture to it, it doesn't feel smooth like glass. Also Wolf's Hard Body has a 9H rating, which means it's more scratch resistant than Opticoat, which is really what sold it for me. If it's true then it's awesome, if it's not then there is nothing lost, I didn't pay for the bottle of Hard Body, like I said I am kind of a beta tester for the product. I got the coating for the cost of a full detailing, didn't pay for the actual bottle itself or application. I only paid for the wash, polish, clay bar and buff which they did before applying the coating to make sure the paint was perfect. Since the product has a 9 hardness, it is very difficult to remove imperfections in the paint after application so you really got to make sure the paint is perfect before you apply it.

Please don't take this the wrong way - marketing buzz requires the use of tons of terminology and lots of "WOW" hype.

If a product was produced with an actual hardness of 9H not only would it be VERY expensive, it wouldn't be sold to a consumer market. I mean DIAMOND(which scratches GLASS) is 10... There is no way a product with a 9H rating is bottled in liquid form and sold to a consumer market.

Auto Aesthetica was actually the first company in the US to carry the Aquartz and Cquartz line which claimed the same exact thing - 9H... but I refused to repeat this because my background in chemistry and other physical sciences told me what this would require. We stopped carrying both lines for various reasons but part of this was a little bit of dishonesty from the manufacturers to their customers directly - I simply don't play games.

What I am getting at is think about how many products actually make claims.. and think of how many live up to them. C and Aquartz coatings used to claim 2 years..one barely lasts 8 months the other maybe 9? I can get better durability from other products on prepped paint.

Opticoat just plain lasts, like Garry said. Its been tried and the claims are true - but we will all stay tuned, especially to the cars that are otherwise not taken care of by detailer and car care enthusiasts..because we all know how much better products "are" when the right people are taking care of them.

^^^ I will not argue with you on this as I do not have a background in chemistry and therefore I completely believe you.

However, like I said, I got the coating for free...worst case if it fades away in 6 months Rick at Unique will Opticoat my car basically for free. He holds to his word and we are beta testing the product anyways so it's not a big deal. Wanted to test the stuff out thats all and as long as it doesn't make my paint fall off I really don't have anything to lose. I will report how well it works over the coming months.

I can tell you that dust falls right off. My BRZ sits in a garage most of the time and gets dusty, naturally. After taking it for a spin around the block, it was back to looking freshly washed.

Like Sony said, we are beta testers. If it doesn't perform, then Opti-Coat will be put on for next to nothing.

This video was enough to convince me to try it.

Right side of the panel is coated with Wolfs, left isn't.

I will say this: there are a lot of videos of manufacturers making claims and videos of scratch and even BURN resistance all over the internet including the other 2 coatings mentioned. I can't remember the last time a smooth edged plastic lighter was deemed "reality" in scratch occurrence, respectfully.

What I still am waiting for is someone who had their car coated to pull up and offer me the test bed to prove that they are actually resistant. Or actually have someone take a scuff pad with a weight on it and a 1/4 of a brick(something pretty light but enough to induce scratch pressure) and drag it over the coated and non coated side separately using the same thing.

Or actually heck, HD video would be cool too

Oh I know, everyone claims the world. I don't expect this to last 2 years. I get my car detailed once a year. If it lasts until then I'd be happy.

I did mine myself. Well worth the price, bought the stuff from Detailer's Domain. Took me around 6 hours to do everything, just one coat too. Waited 3 hours to do another coat, and then let it cure for 12 hours as instructed. Thankfully it rained the day after and i could see this stuff in action.. It's simply amazing the water just glides off the paint and does not leave water spots.. You basically only have to wash the car once it gets pretty soiled, no maintenance required. I'm very happy with hard body, very easy to apply, but you have to polish the car first to clean the paint, that is probably the most time consuming part of the whole thing. I'd highly recommend Wolf's entire nano series, I used the trim, and glass coat along with this, with excellent results.

The guy must have done a lot of video takes to get each mark so show up in a perfect line on the left side. Call BS all you want. I got the stuff on my car and it works so far.

Make sure you do the "butt of the lighter" test and take video! I'd like to see that "experiment" replicated before I believe it, and I want to believe it.

Just don't do it on a new car.
