Just learned my grandfather-in-law worked with Wernher von Braun developing radar to track the rockets. Oddly enough, my wife also just learned this.
Also he apparently watched some nuclear explosions in person, which explains some things about my father-in-law...

So excite. Got me and the Mrs. a Christmas present. I got a room at the Monterey Plaza Hotel, and dinner reservations at the Sardine factory for Sunday night. We will have our last picnic lunch for the year at our favorite winery in Half Moon Bay, then wonder our way down to Monterey. I need to make a picnic bucket of chicken. Maybe pick up a Christmas pie or two at Gizdich Ranch on the way home Monday. Brilliant!
