BRZ Suspension on FRS?
Hi. I recently picked up 2017 BRZ suspension with less than 2k miles for 100 bucks. I picked it up cause it was so cheap and now I am curious if this suspension will improve handling of the car vs the 2013 frs stock suspension. I read somewhere here saying that BRZ suspension are made to be more neutral. I plan on installing the TRD springs on these shocks and wanted to make sure that I am not ruining anything.

keep in mind the suspension setup for 13/14 FRS were the least compliant and the rear wants to step out the most compared to all years of the BRZ suspension and anything beyond 2015s for the FRS/GT86..
The changes on the facelifted BRZ/86 (2017+) made the suspension even more compliant but as far as "better handling" it is all a toss up.. FWIW, I've driven all the different factory setups and never once have I felt like I wanted to get the new setup, too small of a difference for me to care. |

The newer setup will be an upgrade. Trd springs work well with the new dampers.
You are going to like the new parts.

Thank you!! I still have extended warranty. I know TRD springs won't void warranty but will installing BRZ shocks void warranty?

It gets more complicated with engine mods. The dealership has a better chance of saying aftermarket headers caused transmission issues due to increased power, for instance. 2) The dealership tech isn't really going to be able to tell that you installed newer BRZ suspension. It all looks the same, except for the Sachs dampers on the PP. |

Even the 2013 BRZ's had stiffer front and softer rear springs than the FRS. The 2015's across the board got slightly better shocks.

Softer != more neutral. Stiffer front and softer rear shifts the grip balance backwards making the car more understeer prone.

I had a rear shock leak on my FR-S and I decided to pick up a set of BRZ shocks/springs from a performance package car.
The Sachs are valved a bit differently from what I can tell. My FR-S Showa shocks were always kind of harsh. The Sachs are not much different in terms of ride quality. From the seat of the pants I can feel the car has a bit more low speed compression damping. In general the car resists brake dive better, although the stock FRS shocks did pretty well in that regard already. The non-performance package shocks will likely ride a bit better. That seems to be the consensus. For reference: 13-16 BRZ spring rates: 153/195 13-16 FRS spring rates: 130/211 17+ BRZ spring rates: 176/176 17+ 86 spring rates: 168/184 I did the combo of 17 BRZ front springs and 13 FRS rear springs to get the most spring rate possible.
