Weird, I'm in Florida too. 2013 still running strong in original belt lol

Car only has 17k miles on it so it's weird that it went so soon. Guess the Florida weather killed it even though it's garaged and rarely driven.

My money is on this being the reason. 75k miles on my Florida 2013, daily driven on original belt, no issues.

Yeah, supposedly they are good for 100k miles the way they are made now.
Maybe it was still good with plenty of life in it but it didn't seem like the noise would go away so I just spent the $35 and the squeal is gone so I'm happy.
It was too embarrassing driving around sounding like the car was some old heap so I was shamed into spending $ for a quick fix.

I don't blame you. That would drive me nuts too. I would've done the same, makes it sound like your car is jacked up lol. I have steering column rattle which drives me nuts, but luckily I don't hear it unless hit rough pavement that causes vibration.

Put my car on sale today
Since I have a daughter I haven't driven my 86 as I'd like to. I know many of us use their toyobaru with kids and toddlers, but I have another car (a Subaru Outback) and the comfort/ease of use are not comparable. At this moment I'm driving my gt only to job. And that's not worth in my opinion. If I don't have any buyers, I will trade in for a Focus RS (family car, right?).
Things can change, and I may decide to keep it. But for now, I'd rather have only 2 cars in my family (my fiancee has a Golf). So I would sell my gt86, sell one of the other 2 (golf should go) and get a Focus RS or a Audi RS3, which are the only 2 cars I'd love to spend my money on.

I very nearly bought a demo focus RS in the lot near us. Googling I found lots of threads about blown head gaskets, and that put me off it, and in the direction of the 86.

If you get an RS you will certainly spend money on it once it's out of warranty! (Perhaps even before...) And the head gasket is only one of the know issues.

Well, don't fret, after the kids are grown and out of college you can buy another "just for fun" car -

Today I deleted the sound generator tube. It definitely cleans up the engine bay quiets down the cabin. I didn't realize how much noise the sound generator made until it was gone.

Second window chip in less than 2 years of ownership. How fragile is this windscreen? This one is only about 4-5 mm so I reckon I'm not gonna rush about repairing it. Still sucks. Went through insurance first time, so I'll do that again. Free but will cost me 1-2 hours of time. Bah

Unlikely. There seem to be many affordable options for fixing chips from DIY to pro
