Pay attention to driving, not who's looking at you. You'll have more fun driving your FR-S/BRZ.

I get this when riding my bicycle around town (it's unusual to see anyone other than a deliveryman ride a bicycle around the parts of town I ride in). I just try and mind my own business, although sometimes I do think that I should look happier. If however someone smiles/waves and makes a positive comment, I try and smile and wave back (if safe).

I use 1 of 2 techniques...I turn wide eyed and stare back, or I turn wide eyed stare back and then slowly move my index finger as far up my nose as possible.

Try this:

1) Place left elbow on door (right elbow for you RHD guys)
2) Place head on left hand
3) Pretend you are on a delivery and don't have time for gawkers

I'll do one of the following, depending on the mood I'm in:

A) Turn my head quickly to whoever is looking at me and slowly smile in the creepiest imaginable way that I can muster
B) Turn and wave happily, like a complete lunatic
C) Turn, smile, and throw up peace signs with both hands

I've found that if I make the situation awkward enough, they'll turn away as quickly as possible or catch onto my attempt to convey that I'm in no way a d-bag and am incredibly friendly.

I get plenty of attention in my car, too. It's mostly positive, so I give plenty of smiles and "thanks". I've never really had a gar that generated negative attention, at least not that I was aware of. I guess it's all in your attitude!

A short head nod or a quick peace sign is all it takes. Yeesh, even I do that for cars/motorcycle riders just on the way to work. The car crop around the area is insane.

I don't think I'm ever going to notice anyone looking at my car unless they go out of their way to get my attention. I realized this reading the reaction thread, I never look anywhere but forward at stop lights. I pay no attention to anyone else unless I'm moving, but even then I'm usually looking at their wheels to make sure they're not going to cross the line and hit me. If people want to stare, that's fine, only reason I'd want to know if they were is so I could post in the reaction thread.
