First obvious one seems like an answering machine so you can screen them.

Second option (if you have adequate Internet service) switch to something like Ooma. I did that about 5 years ago when I realized my "landline" had been converted to VOIP anyway by AT&T when we upgraded our Internet service from DSL to uVerse.

I transferred my number to it, and it has built in SPAM call filtering. In addition limitless blacklisting. It has all the features of my old landline for about a 10th of the cost.

If it weren't for us being on the granddaughters school emergency call list, I would just pull the plug on the land line during the day.

Nah, I reckon he put used engine oil on it for the start up in case the engine blew, then he wouldn't have waisted new oil -

Yep, we have an answering machine but the phone still rings disturbing ma naps -

I have to look into that other option -

We have a line through Comshaft. We used to get tons of robo calls so we disconnected the phone. Months later I tried plugging it back in and to my surprise, the bullshit calls were gone. Now we only answer to a code - a one-ring call followed by the actual call.

Seems to work but what do I know? Might be like elephant repellent.

So, nobody has ever heard of caller ID? If it's not someone you know, don't answer. Robots stop trying after a while.
