I've just purchased the header so far; would it be beneficial to pick up an overpipe as well to replace the stock one? I'm going to keep the stock front pipe due to volume concerns. I like the volume level that my car is at currently with the Invidia R400 catback alone and don't want to go too crazy.

Do a 2.5" overpipe and talk to jdl about getting a quiet front pipe. I noticed a change in mid-range power with stock header and stock overpipe with just a switch to a noncatted front pipe.

Pick your favorite brand. 2.5" is 2.5"... Just make sure it's actually 2.5" lol

^this. Jesse had some great info. He said in regards to the overpipe: "Definite gains with a header, especially ones where the merge collector is located near the overpipe connection. The overpipe essentially becomes an extension of the merge collector at that point so making sure the diameters are match and flow is smooth is important ."

He also said that removing the cat in the front pipe is worth about 3-4hp.

I was originally going to do the header, but I figured I might as well do the whole shebang. I'm also trying for max gains for my class in NASA TT. If your budget doesn't allow for everything though, the header obviously provides the most gains.

If you aren't running at a national level nobody cares about that crap.

I went with Hooker Headers catted FP with Helmholtz resonator. all the American brand exhausts should be 2.5", Japanese exhaust are 60mm = 2.36" or 70mm

Please post your guys opinions who have it. I am thinking of upgrading to this for a bit better power band and smoother sound vs my Tomei UEL Header.

Well tonight was an expensive night

Parts ordered so far:

SPC LCA and front camber bolts
RCE Yellow Springs
and... JDL 4-2-1 with ceramic coating
Also eyeing a used MXP SP CB exhaust to replace my nameless axleback. I think the new combo of the JDL+MXP should give me the right sound noise I want with stock FP.

Not hard to do. You are just hammering down 2 of the high spots on the skid plate with ACE. Takes 2 min

Nice that there is another quality EL header option

That's a good question. Does the JDL require the same modification to be installed?

Mine touched at one of the primaries. Not a massive amount but then again I had the first one out in the wild. I told Jesse about it and I believe he has adjusted the new ones to have less of a chance of hitting.

Well, Christmas came a day early for me

It was pretty well wrapped but at some point the flange must have taken a smack. It shouldn't really be an issue though right?

Oh and my dumb butt managed to squash the merge collector gasket while trying to put everything away again.

Now I will tuck it away somewhere until tax season lol. I'm not picking up the flex kit or EcuTek stuff til then. For the others who picked one up, have you guys installed yet?
