I got my wife a 2007 MDX after our 2006 Ridgeline was in an accident. Both are great vehicles for hauling people/stuff. (I fixed the Ridgeline myself- now it's MY "stormy weather" vehicle)

I only need a small suv or 4-door hatchback, and I considered a Subaru Crosstrek or Forester but wow are those cars boring to drive! I don't want the engine troubles of an older WRX hatchback either (or trying to find a clean unmodified one).
Mazda seems to be the only one trying to keep the 'fun' in driving an affordable family-friendly 4-door. |

If you're going to get a wagon on stilts, you might as well get the best driving one: CX-5 or CX-9. Alternatively, a used MDX is a great buy.

if i have not gotten the Tesla i would definitely consider the new Honda Passport, it checks all the boxes for me:
1. tried and true V6 for mid-size SUV 2. made by a well known reliable brand (good for resale value down the road) 3. looks like traditional SUVs not some weird looking urban styled ones (Nissan Murano comes to mind) |
