My last name is Irace. My plate is IRACE 86, so yea, I’m sure it can be confusing for people, even though we aren’t on a track. Then again, these are the same people that get confused in many screnarios:

—They come up to customers in department stores that are wearing similar clothes to the employees and ask them for help.
—They always are compelled to make the joke, “hey, my car is next” when you are washing your car.
—When a barista is in uniform away from their work, these types are compelled to ask for a double latte with extra cream.

I just remembered I wanted to post this. So it's 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning. The wife and I are on our way to buy groceries. I'm pretty strict about staying below 3K until my temps hit 150 minimum. It's the morning after the first snow of the year, well below freezing outside. The roads aren't bad, but definitely aren't great, especially for racing. A WRX pulls up next to me at a light. When the light turns green, I set off at my usual pace, keeping it below 3K. Granted my exhaust setup is extremely loud... This guy guns it, big plume of white smoke out the exhaust, sheet of snow falling off the car. I just cringed thinking about the unnecessary wear and tear on his obviously not warmed up car.

I don't mean to introduce a bummer to this thread but are you sure people are racing u guys? I dunno I've put 11K km's on the RED 86 so far and no one's ever tried to race me... Sometimes I feel like launching off the line if no one's behind me, I don't look around and actively try to race anyone though... just saying. I just feel I read some of these replies and people assume any car driving fast = guy trying to race you lol.

I have said that 1,000 times in this thread. Apparently every single person that does a flyby or revs their engine wants to race. It is odd because I noticed the same number of flybys and engine revs when I drove the wife's SUV.

I think road racing and dumb red light testosterone insecurity displays are more prevalent in the states. I do get it in Toronto occasionally but no more than 2-3 times a year. And yeah, it's quite overt. Slowing down, matching speed, revving, pointing forward as in "let's go". It does happen.

I’ve only had about 4-5 instances in 3 years, so it’s not like it’s all that common. Meeting the WRX at the next light and them not doing it again leads me to believe he was a bro who wanted to race.

In the twin it happens once in a while. Happened today at lunch with a guy in a one of those Ford St's, or something like that. Very obvious, rolling back and forth at the light next to me, then stretches tires at the green light and speeds away hitting probably 70 MPH+ in a 40 zone.

Happened earlier in the week with another Ford, a blue RS I think it is. Rolling to work on a 35mph crowded road and he is behind me. About 4 times he fades back, then comes up real fast right on my rear.

Happens almost daily when I drive the Lotus.

No offence to our cars here but I don't get it as much in the 86. In the Corvette its all time people seem to start driving crazy or fast swerving around people, flooring it in minivans ect, ect. Most of the time im just crusing minding my own business. I think the higher up the car food chain the crazier people around you get I can only imagine the idiots swerving around the guy in a Ferrari.

Not really a race but the other day on my way to the gym, I was behind someone in a big pickup going ~5-10 under in the left lane. I waited for a minute to see if he would let me by, then I went to pass him on the right. I guess he must've taken this as a challenge or something, so as I start accelerating to pass him, he mashes the pedal too. I'll never understand why people do this. Do they feel insulted that I would have the audacity to go faster than they are? I just don't get it.
