I was instructing yesterday at MSR-H, and it started raining...for the first time since the Lemons race the weekend prior ...so the random crapcan's fluids were all coming to the surface, and there was plenty...grip was shall we say...variable?

Getting into the beginner level student's C7 Z06 during all this meant that if he was even hinting at putting it in "race mode" I was only insisting ONCE that we go back to some level of protection. Otherwise, I was bailing on that ride.

You are accepting some risk providing in-car instruction, but I agree - as the instructor your job of guidance is predicated on experience. Most of the time experience that the student doesn't have yet - and you have to have make them understand that the risk is real. If they can't internalize that or show no self preservation skills, it's time to shut them down!

No amount of Ferrari swag they're wearing can substitute for the better judgement of a more experienced instructor, nor can their trust fund put you back together when they decide to go "Clarkson" at the wrong time.

The instructor should have just refused to get in the car.

Always protect yourself first.

To be clear, I have no idea what TC level he drove in. I wasn't instructing him, it wasn't my membership he was riding on. I learned a long time ago that the best way to reduce the number of problems I have in my life is to stop unnecessarily importing other people's problems.
I drove in Race 2 and only after a 30 min session did I go to race.
