I woke up at 3:50am in pain. It was pretty bad, so I heated a safety pin with my torch and burnt a hole through the top of my fingernail. I have seen it done before, and had it done to my toe one other time. But this was the first time I have done it to myself. Took every bit of courage to jam a red hot pin into my nail.

The pin sizzled through the top of my finger nail creating that gross burning hair smell, and instead of feeling hot, it felt cool as blood rushed out the new hole relieving the pressure.

Happy Halloween!
Don't think I could count how many times I have had to do that.

Damn! That's no fun at all!

It was really disappointing. I could not believe how bad it hurt. I had to stop working on my car and take a break.

It is nice that I hurt my left hand though; since I am right handed. Trying to see the Glass half full...

Hopefully, my buddy can come over and help me finish my install before Friday, when I have an alignment scheduled.

Could be worse. I have a scar on my right hand middle finger that runs from under my nail, over the top of my finger and down the other side about a quarter way to the first joint.

I got it working on a roof, in the mountains of NC, on a cold December day many years ago. I was hammering away, installing asphalt shingles in the semi dark trying to finish up the job when I felt something warm running down my hand.

I had hit may hand with the hammer and instead of what you had I had split my finger open. My fingers were so cold I couldn't feel it, until it warmed up, then of course it hurt like an SOB. Probably needed stitches, but we just bandaged it up tight and let it grow back together.

I still have partial feeling lose in the finger but the scar is barely visible.

Actually not technically an injury, but one of 5 surgeries on my hands for severe Dupuytren's contracture, and that is just the front. I got lots of gross hand pictures. I usually need surgery on each hand every 3 years. It's awesome.
