Anyway, I'd just pay the fine and do traffic school for a total of 450. If you can muster that up - it's worth it. like I mentioned, it's about 2 hours of pain including searching for the school, but well worth it and not waste your day in court. You probably make more money than 450 in a day ... so I'd chuck it in the "wasted time bin" and just pay the fine. But that's me -- if you do go to court, you risk a **** judge that may give you only 1 of 2 options, then either way you'll end up paying more or eat a point for the next 3 years. (insurance hike as well) I'm just trying to play it more safe than usual, after friends have gone through that mess I don't want to waste time. If you do go to court, I pray that you get a nicer judge. |

You can do what is easiest for you. But I disagree with Camry in that just bending over and pay the ticket and go to traffic school. If you give in that easily, if you get another ticket within 18 months, you can't go to traffic school and you won't be able to remove the point off the record.
You have that same option for traffic school even if you go to court or do TBD, why not try? |

Check it out, my best friend got a ticket because she did not have cash for the toll and got a snazzy photo of her in her Forester probably picking her nose. Anyways, she tells me that the toll only has a camera in the front. Not really sure why I believed her, this is my best friend who always gets me in trouble. So we decided to take the BRZ for a cruise in the city and we both do not have a single cent on us, only plastic. I get fined because they got a camera in the back too. Guilty? More like ignorant... I wish I got a ticket for speeding...

Hate tickets. Recently completed something called "Best Online Traffic School" which was reasonably priced and super quick.

I'm not in CA but my experience is a lawyer tends to be more effective.
I got 2 tickets in NYC at a traffic stop, which amounted to 9 points. I hired a lawyer and he went to my court date and somehow got the speeding ticket dropped. NYC is a no plea bargain rule. So he must have found some discrepancy to get it dismissed. I was on the hook for the other ticket though. But this brought my points down to 3 from 9. It also got me out of the "driver assessment fee" which is like 350$ for 3 years. Also in this instance prevented me from having a suspended license as I already had points and after 11 points you get a suspension. No telling what insurance would have cost after all that. The lawyer cost me $500 but was worth every cent. I have tried going to NYC traffic court before and the judge just says there are no plea bargains. So unless you can show some proof to counter the police officers testimony you can't do anything. Another thing to consider. It is way better to not get the ticket on your record than take a traffic class for points. Where I am points last 18 months and the actual violation lasts 3 years. So insurance is going to be seeing this information for a long time. And my understanding is insurance isn't based on points, it is based on driving history. So insurance doesn't care if you took that driving class. It is good to take to avoid suspension though. Good luck man.

Holy necro Batman
Also @ZionsWrath that is all very different from CA. We can plea bargain, traffic school saves your insurance, points are way different, etc
