Good to hear! Reducing weight and size, good move by Nissan. Great to see the Z finally returning to it's origins.

Z's weight started to increase substantially from the 300zx, great to know that Nissan is finally trying to reduce it's weight.

Edit: After reading carefully again, they should just make a new Silvia based on these concepts. 4 cylinder is no Z.

Yeah I agree. But if it was an I4 turbo z, It would be awesome if it was a 2.4L! Then it would be the rebirth of the 240Z! And that would be awesome!

This is exciting.
That would be exciting. It would show the world that cars are actually fun to drive instead of just being econoboxes.

It sounds smart, but I'm not sure it is the right move for the "Z."

A smaller, lighter, cheaper, and less powerful car should be a Silvia. Then again in the US it was called a 240zx...

^^This.

If this comes to fruition I would be all over this. I would love to have a lightweight RWD turbo 4.
Then again, the Toyobaru might have some form of forced induction by that time.

Do like the idea of lighter Z... but not sure bout 4 cylinder. Fairlady is a 6 cylinder car and they're well known for that... I do under stand the idea of 4 cylinder turbo is better for eco... but not sure if they wanna loose another "trademark" of Fairlady. First they loose the affordable and next was lightweight... now 6 cylinder?

I agree that a 4 cylinder Z/Fairlady would be quite a leap for them, but it might help them get back to affordable and lightweight. But I'd like them to stay with a 6, maybe a smaller and lighter one with FI, and/or bring back the Silvia on a lighter frame with a 4-cyl.

They should bring back Silvia... hell, if they still have problem selling it name "Silvia" in state side just sell it as "SX" series again (like 240sx)

I don't even think the current Z is unaffordable. It starts at 34k with a Sports Pkg. That is around $120.00 more a month than a FRS and like $80-$100 more than a BRZ depending on trim and most people pay under MSRP. If you want a fully loaded model then that's a different story.

Yeah but they need to do something different. We don't need another 2.0L N/A lightweight coupe. We need a 2.5L lightweight(2750-2900lbs) RWD coupe or a 2.0L Turbo one.
