Good to hear! Reducing weight and size, good move by Nissan. Great to see the Z finally returning to it's origins.
Z's weight started to increase substantially from the 300zx, great to know that Nissan is finally trying to reduce it's weight. Edit: After reading carefully again, they should just make a new Silvia based on these concepts. 4 cylinder is no Z. Last edited by vaporiz; 07-12-2012 at 10:29 PM. |

It sounds smart, but I'm not sure it is the right move for the "Z."
A smaller, lighter, cheaper, and less powerful car should be a Silvia. Then again in the US it was called a 240zx... |

If this comes to fruition I would be all over this. I would love to have a lightweight RWD turbo 4. Then again, the Toyobaru might have some form of forced induction by that time.

Do like the idea of lighter Z... but not sure bout 4 cylinder. Fairlady is a 6 cylinder car and they're well known for that... I do under stand the idea of 4 cylinder turbo is better for eco... but not sure if they wanna loose another "trademark" of Fairlady. First they loose the affordable and next was lightweight... now 6 cylinder?

I don't even think the current Z is unaffordable. It starts at 34k with a Sports Pkg. That is around $120.00 more a month than a FRS and like $80-$100 more than a BRZ depending on trim and most people pay under MSRP. If you want a fully loaded model then that's a different story.

Yeah but they need to do something different. We don't need another 2.0L N/A lightweight coupe. We need a 2.5L lightweight(2750-2900lbs) RWD coupe or a 2.0L Turbo one.
