Yeah, I heard G-10 is made out of fiberglass, (or something like that) so require to wear a mask.

Quick question, do you recommend any proxi? I'm assuming don't need any special proxi to glue em to the steel.

I would avoid any sort of quick set or 5 minute epoxy. General rule of thumb is the longer the set time, the stronger the final bond. It is also much easier to work with a longer setting epoxy because you won't be rushed trying to get things properly clamped together.

You're more than welcome to make a new thread, cuz I'm interested to see as well. Also what count as an "expert" though? Gotta have college degrees & work in that field or have long experiences?

I know many many many many people that have degrees and work in a field that are in no way an expert in anything.


Ultra nailed the example of what qualifies as an expert in my opinion. Results not training.


A couple of years ago somebody tried to start a thread where people could share what they felt their expertise was. It died a rapid death due to lack of interest.

You guys are way too kind.

I don't consider myself an expert on knifemaking, but I am definitely an information sponge and love to learn new things especially if it is making something by hand. If I can help someone get started in the hobby with the knowledge I have then that is an awesome feeling. There is always something new to learn.

Forums like this can be a treasure trove of information with all the different skill sets people bring with them.

The latest hobby I am absorbed in is car detailing... another slippery slope of buying products and at some point some machinery. At least in my small condo I am able to store my ever-growing supply of detailing products... my other hobby is being organized!

Expert vs moderate is a matter of self-assessment combined with a tangible body of work, IMO. It's a really tough distinction to make.
