FA20 question
So dropping in my 3rd motor today, however this motor says it's from another 13' BRZ like mine but there's a vacuum pump(?) that my previous motors did not have.
Can someone explain why this one has one and others don't? Any benefit to having it installed or removing it? Thanks! ![]()

AT vs MT. AT has the pump, MT does not. Rip all that junk off and swap the plate from your MT engine over to your new one.
Just curious, what happened to all these engines? |

Yup. AT "motor" :/
That's some extreme wear, while still having a usable chassis.

I'm pretty sure someone had boosted the original motor then traded it in at 58k. My first oil change had a lot of metal in the oil so I knew it wasn't going to last long but I just kept dogging it because I have a warranty. About a month ago she locked up on me on the way to work and finally died. 1 month later got a second motor and installed it and it started knocking after 30 seconds. Now Its been 2 months and getting the 3rd motor in today. Sadly I won't be able to keep any of the old cores.

So how far past 58K did the first one run before it died? If you had bearing material in the pan I am amazed it ran more than a day.

I work at the dealership I bought my car from so me and another mechanic are dropping her in. Surprisingly not super hard. But these motors are wack.
Lol we forgot to swap the spark plugs over so we gotta pull it out again |

Yeah pulling/replacing the engine on this thing is down right simple. Rebuilding one is a bitch though.

Before we droped the 2nd Motor in we had to replace a whole bunch of seals since it was leaking everywhere. Even doing that was dumb.
Got a whole bunch of junk turbos in the back, if only it was worth to boost this thing. |

You don't need to pull the engine for spark plugs, you can get to them raising the engine a bit, or even without raising the engine and the proper tools. Hopefully this motor lasts..
