I can just imagine a robot further down the line counting welds.. finds an error, strolls over to the welding robot to give it a good kick-in!

Hey JD, you know anything about this? The headlights on my British car suck. I found out they have shutters. I did some research and found out why. Do you all drive around at night with shuttered lights?

"The Elise is equipped with European-specification headlamps, due to a Federal waiver of requirements contained in FMVSS 108 (which ordinarily requires US DOT headlamps). The purpose of that adjustable cutoff shield is so that the car can safely (and legally) be driven in left-traffic countries. When the owner of a car like this takes the Chunnel to England, for instance, he would legally be required to shift the shields to flatten the cutoff. This does compromise and weaken the light pattern and severely reduces down-the-road seeing distance; "

Not aware of 'shutters' perhaps a mod that appeared on later models. Cars going over to mainland Europe do need to mask the light so that it doesn't blind on coming cars. This is sufficient for short trips but if the car is to remain on the mainland then the fittings will need to be changed.

Temporary masking is done through the use of black stick-on masking tape that are shaped to suit specific car headlights.
