Don't think its anything more than a stock dyno graph picture with an RPM line matching the real RPMS.

The "dip" refers to torque dip.
It is something complained about by people who don't know how to downshift.
These people belong in a powerful Mustang that is more forgiving of being in the wrong gear constantly.

You re right. I set my idle at 4500 cuz I'm a real driver and I don't need those lower rpms.

Nah, doesn't always apply. There are less than a handful of folks in the US that have had their car longer than me, and I agree it "could" use more power.

Then again, just about every car could use more power in my opinion, so I may not be a good judge!

I was (and remain) disappointed that Toyota did not offer it in multiple engine/suspension configurations. Maybe I'm just too used to the GM/Ford sales model of sports/muscle/about every model car where you offer them in multiple packages.

That is definitely not the Toyota model, and based on what we are seeing with the "new Supra" doesn't appear that is going to change anytime soon.

Unless your only use of the car is on the track, it's absolutely reasonable to complain about the torque dip for DD purposes. Subaru could have (and should have) fixed it by now.

TBF this comment is not very useful.

The torque dip isn't even an issue for DD purposes.

So you're saying that the middle of the rev range is irrelevant for daily driving. Yeah, right...

If you put it into the specific situation where it becomes a hindering problem, then sure it's noticeable. But if you drive the car a certain way, then you avoid it 90+ percent of the time.

So the main problem with the dip is when you're trying to accelerate. There's an easy way to deal with it, and that's by putting the engine in a situation that it does well in for acceleration, namely outside the dip. Once you've accelerated to where you want to be, then you can cruise in the dip with no problems.

Really?? Just stay out of the middle of the rev range while you're accelerating, huh? Okey dokey, that solves everything for me

You’re not exactly explaining what the issue is with going past the middle of the rev range either.
