Lexus/FRS differential pumpkin swap: Y31 casing
I have and extra differential pumpkin from what I believe is an IS250. The pumpkin is labeled Y31, which I can't find any information on. It is an open differential.
I am going to be swapping in a Kaaz lsd and a 4.67 ring and pinion. I don't want to spend a bunch of money just to find out they carrier won't fit or the axles won't go in. The Greddy differential cover bolts up to the back of it. Everything looks the same as the FRS pumpkin, but does anyone know for sure? Will it bolt up and will the axles go in? Thanks. |

if it's out of an is250 then you should be good to go from what I've seen. I used one from an is300, but everything that I researched said it could've been from an is250 or is300.
It also looks identical to the one from the is300 i put in and our stock one that I took out. Here is one link that I found quickly.. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...automatic.html |

Just FYI for someone in the future. The axels do fit into the housing. Now it's time to test a 4.67 rear end with FI an kazz lsd.

Interesting. I’ve got a Kaaz lsd in my RallyCross Escort. Super modification, one of the best I’ve done to that car. But, that car went from open differential to the “1.5” way unit.
I’m interested to see what you think after the mods.

So is the general synopsis that Y30 or Y31 both work?

I'm not sure what the Y30 is out of, but the Y31 works for sure. If the 30/31 are swappable, I would assume the 30 would be good as well.
