Welp, 2/3 of the granddaughters go back to school tomorrow -

So, today, I drained the pools. The deck rose about two inches since I took over a thousand gallons of water off of it.

Stored away the pool, all the pool stuff and pool toys.

The toddler is obsessed with buttons, switches and anything that will turn something on or off. It's kind of cute when she talks to the TV remote (not pushing the proper button) and gets upset when the channel won't turn to "Peppa Pig".

She gets equally upset when "Alexa" won't play the songs she wants (because she cannot say her name correctly) -

Sometimes she ain't so cute. Case in point. Last night my nightstand light wouldn't work. It's "touch on" so I figured the toddler pulled the chain switch. Nope, still won't work. Yep, it's plugged in. Must be a burnt out bulb, changed that. Still won't work. Maybe THAT bulb was bad, changed it again, still no work.

Yep, I got power to the socket (I thought) because the electric clock (plugged into the lower half if the socket) was working.

mrs humfrz to the rescue. She said that maybe the toddler flipped the switch on the wall?? We have a switch on the wall, I exclaimed!?

Come to find out we do have a switch on the wall, but it only switches half of the socket (the half my light was plugged into).-

THE END

Yes, that will work.

It looks like it will be a cozy room when you are done.-

What are your plans for the door? A new six panel door would look nice.

Of course the ceiling light will be replaced with something updated - right?

Are the walls now sheet rock?

What kind of floor molding are you going to use?

What did you decide on for flooring?

I'm sure our resident remodeling experts:

I hope it’ll be cozy room.

Door you see is bathroom, so don’t think 6 panel door will work.

I d want to update the ceiling lights... but not sure to what. I’ll look into it more.

Are the walls now sheet rock?
Yes sheet rock, but it’s 40yrs old, so stupid paper on it is crap, so when I was priming it, paper made waves... so gotta rip it & fix it smooth. Cuz I’m not planning to doing full textures.

What kind of floor molding are you going to use?
Atm simple molding w natural wood to match the paint. (thinking of doing green wall)

What did you decide on for flooring?
It’ll be a good time to replace this carpet, but prob gonna keep it. I would love to replace, but you know how young couple w limited budget lol

Even though the door is to the bathroom, a store bought, inexpensive, 6 panel door hollow core (not glass - silly) would look updated. They are about $70 at Lowes.

As far as the ceiling light, let the SO pick. Just put a dimmer on it so you can turn it real low when you are watching porn and having unbridled sex on that big couch -

As far as molding, I used a cheap plastic type stuff, painted white, throughout the house. They say to nail or screw it to the walls. I just glued it to the walls then calked the top of it (once the glue set). It's stayed in place for 10 years now -

Yep, carpeting could be included in phase II.

I am in No way a remodeling expert. I just say, "looks great", and write the checks.

6 panel is dated... 2 panel is what they use in all the new stuff. Molded MDF. But it does a nice job adding visual interest either way.
The plastic molding (pvc or foam) isn't a bad idea below grade like this. Carpet can be...
I really hope I never have issues here, but it was expensive in the old place when the sump and the backup failed in the old place. They didn't like running nonstop for hours, evidently. I'm glad I have room to raise the floor here, air space, subfloor, and hardwood. Well, bamboo. About 1/3 done, but the built in cabinet is first.
