Totaled or nah ...

Well... I'm back. I got the car from the body shop 2 weeks ago and it was looking brand new... Anyways, I was sitting waiting to turn left and (thankfully) last second looked in my rear view to see a Dodge Caravan coming full speed, and was able to move a bit. I guess I should say I'm lucky because the driver made no attempt to slow down or stop and the only reason I got caught on the corner was because I was able to move enough out the way to prevent a full blown rear end. The speed limit was 80km/h and she was doing at least 90km/h. Driver bounced off the corner of my 86 and went about 100 feet into a ditch, pretty sure her van is totaled. Anyways, at least I saved my back and neck I guess... Funny thing is I saw her coming from like a kilometer away and she never even saw me apparently, straight road in bright sunlight with a bright red car... LUCKILY she had no story and admit she "didn't see me brake in time". She only got a ticket for following too close............ Well what do you guys think? I hope it's totaled, why should I have to own a salvage title if it's not my fault ? I doubt it'll even drive the same even if they slap another entire rear quarter assembly on. Well looks 30/70 its totaled/not totaled in my opinion, but maybe you guys know better.

It won't have a salvage title unless it is totaled and resold in which case unless you buy it back then it won't be your problem.
Picture does not work.

It's hard to tell from this photo. If it was a 2013, yes. Since it is a 2017, it's value is higher, so, Maybe... I agree with your percentage estimation on if it is totaled.

Glad you are ok, sounds like you saw the van just in time to save yourself serious injury. That's very Fortunate!

Yes it will have diminished value but there is no way to claim that in Ontario. As they say in the article I linked the diminished value on your car won't be any huge amount of money at this pint anyway so it really isn't a big deal.

Got the picture to work. Hard to tell but my guess is that isn't even close to being totaled. It can be fixed and will drive just fine.

But that rear quarter panel is kinked all the way at the door and base of the C pillar... Do you really think with a right rear quarter replacement there won't be any twist or shift in the chassis? I hope so...

They can fix far more than that. They won't just slap a quarter on it they will straighten any bend in the structure. That looks like it missed most of the crash bar anyway. Remember the panels are designed to crumple to keep you safe so they look far worse than it really is.

No the rear wheel cracked and most of the suspension components are broken, it was towed on a flat bed. I drove it off to the shoulder and it was crabbing pretty bad.
