If bought from a dealer, did the dealer push "it's got a clean carfax", and you bought under those pretenses as one of the major decisions in you buying the car? If so, the dealer, while acting in good faith, sold a car under false pretenses and a decent lawyer might be able to get something for your troubles... depending on state of course.
I know... outside service and all that, but some states are more open to this sort of ... scamming, than others. --kC

Effects of long drive on Falkens
I have a set of new SSC tires, and the need to drive 500 miles twice in about a month, mostly Interstate. I am interested in whether anyone would care to speculate on how the tires would handle it.
I ask because I did a similar trip on a set of half-worn RE71Rs last summer and they never had the same grip after that. I'd like to use the Falkens but don't want to damage them and could do the trip on another set of tires. Thanks in advance. |

Now, I was using my Falkens as track tires and not for autox (I run RE71r's in STX) but the Falkens didn't have any ill effects from the trip. |

I've been driving my comp tires to events for years and never felt that it has impacted my competitiveness. I have no problem running tires with up to about 10k street miles at events that I care about. The only concerns I'd have is with rain. |

I drove from SW Fl to Dixie, ran 3 drivers, then drove back home, then drove to Zmax, ran 2 drivers there and drove back on a single set of Falkens. They did great. (I think there was a local event or two in there also)

Installing the SSC suspension next week on a 2016 FR-S. Is there consensus on how to set up the sway bars? I read two separate reviews that recommended setting them to stiff front and back for autox. Is this the best set up or it is course / driving style dependent?

Curious to see what the future holds for this class.. 63 registered at nats... STX only has 45..
I am at the point in my STX build where i am starting to realize how expensive it will be to do it right... and this Spec class is looking real attractive. From reading back through this thread the spec tire seems to be the only real complaint, well and maybe end links... oh and having to keep the silly noisemaker... Before I make the leap I will wait until the snow flies and see what the final outcome of season 1 is. Pencil'n in my first trip to Lincoln for next year, in whatever class I find myself in.

I did some number crunching at lunch, so for those of you NOT on Facebook... (I mean you Twinz :p ) here you go
In a class of 65 competitors.... On day 1, there were 47 gaps that were less than 0.1 seconds, and 9 that were less than 0.01 seconds, including one dead tie (Matt Hugenschmidt and Brad PJ Moore) On day 2, there were 49 gaps that were less than 0.1 seconds, and 13 that were less than 0.01 Overall, there were 38 gaps that were less than 0.1 seconds and 6 that were less than 0.01. The smallest margin was Daniel Fryer over Bernie Kaeferlein by 0.001. |

The competition was great and the class has proven to be very popular. -First year in existence and it was the biggest class at Nationals.

SSC should serve as an example of how other classes need to be done. Probably the best class I've competed in. This is a class where driving makes the difference, it can be both painful and satisfying at the same time.

Have been hearing a "clunk" since last week driving around on the AWESOME Lincoln, NE roads. It wasn't super loud so I reached under without jacking up car and tightened the swaybar endlinks (has been the culprit before)... then tightened the top nut on the shock and 3 on the tophat to the car. Today I went to investigate, and I broke the right front swaybar bracket. I effectively have no front swaybar right now, and I'm fairly sure I didn't when I ran on Thursday, which would explain why it was "evil loose".
Oops. Parts are ordered. Can hopefully get everything fixed by next weekend's event |

Yeah, seems to be a common occurrence. I loosened the rear brackets on day 2 because binding a little.
The front developed a growl at low/moderate speeds, probably just the tires that have a slight scalloping to them. I did a "quick bearing check" by trying to make the front wheels move, nothing. When I get home I'm going to look everything over. (Yep, still not home yet, had work in Philly this week so went directly there instead of going home first and backtracking... via the Dragon). --kC

Did you not hear me yell at you about binding? I saw you guys under the car and it looked like someone was pulling REALLY hard to get the endlink out of the bar. Been there, done that... it's because everything was clamped down to the point that it was all bound. And that made the car evil.
