You know what else you can take your foot off and let the car coast at idle? The brake pedal on an AT.

Manual crank pulleys are far superior. The automatic ones work better at a higher RPM but have added weight from the extra battery to keep it spinning even with the car off. Makes it much harder to drive in traffic since minimum coasting speed gets up to 15mph. BBK may be needed to compensate.

I bought an automatic so my wife can drive it when necessary. If I feel the need of a thrill,I ride my Suzuki TU250X like I stole it.

Before I got mine, I rented an automatic 86 in Japan.
I loved it. The paddle shifters were a lot of fun, and I would have been happy with an automatic, especially since I commute 3 hours a day. But the tS was only offered in a manual, the engine upgrades only come with the manual, and I feel I would have always been wondering about the manual if I had purchased the auto. So like 24 out of the 28 cars I've owned, the 86 twin I bought was indeed a manual. |

I got an auto, because after 30 years of driving a manual, stop and go traffic just was so easy that I didn't feel engaged. Driving was no longer a pleasure as driving a manual had become second nature. I wanted the challenge of driving an auto in stop and go traffic, so I got it. I love the challenge of dealing with only one pedal at a time, and what to do with my now useless left foot. Do I rest it on the dead pedal, or do I bring it back so my knee is up?

I got MT because I wear my Fitbit on my left ankle. It is the only way I can get my steps in for the day.
Also there are more bolt-ons for the MT. |

Manual; I like to shift.
It's also a anti theft device in the 21st century. |

I bought an auto because it's easier to text and eat while driving down the freeway.

That isn't funny. I wouldn't be caught dead making any kind of comment like that.
