So, about two weeks ago I had the opportunity to head to the legendary Road America with Midwest 86Cup! Needless to say, I was thrilled with the coils the entire time. This time I went for a 6F/8R set-up vs the 6F/7R setup I was running on my home track in favor of erring on the side of caution a bit given it being my first time on the track.

Given how bumpy RA seemingly is (You'll see this in the video), I think softer settings were a good call on this one.

It was also my first "big boy" track and god damn is it exhilarating! The "Kink" is no joke and it can be very intimidating for a first timer. It commands obvious respect.

After a nervous feeler session and getting down off my adrenaline high i managed to begin consistently bagging 3:02 - 3:04 lap times on the next two subsequent sessions, which did wonders for my confidence. Final best was a 3:01.860. The car has so much more in it to give, though. I definitely wasn't as aggressive in many of the turns as I could have been; but hopefully I can remedy that on my next visit.

Just looking at the data showed lots of high-G turns, especially turn 5 where I recorded 1.25G at one point! Absolutely crazy.

Videos below:

This is my thinking too, and the reason why OEM spring rates are staggered.

Fresh CSG Flex A install

W/ SPL rear LCAs and stock bars F and R

First alignment scheduled next week prior to tracking.
225/40-18 Hoosier R6
225/40-18 Pirelli P-Zero
Alignment to be done w/ p-Zero's mounted
CSG@David suggested -3.25°/F and -2.75°/R
I will have at least 1/32" toe out/F and in/R

Suggestions / comments on camber?

Oh, he gives YOU suggestions, but he makes me work for it. Ugh. :P

I'm at -3.2F and -2.5R. Not far off from that. I did zero toe all around, but may actually need some toe in for the rear for braking stability. Car is a tad squirrelly. It does quite well however and handles in a very neutral fashioned; especially after corner balancing. You will probably see less rotation in the rear from the additional 0.25* of camber out once the tires come up to temperature. This may be desirable for you. It may not. Depends on track, driving style, and tire temps/wear. You really need a temperature probe or scanner of some kind to adjust the camber based on wear and how the car is handling. Every setup and driving style is different and there no singular answer.

David has given you a very good starting point, though.

Dampener settings will require playing around with. Seems harder compound tires like stiffer dampening and softer tires like softer dampening with these coils.

On the spec 86Cup tire (GT Radial SX2 in 245/40r17) I've found a sweet spot with 6F/8R. They're a heavy and overbuilt tire. Unsure how that will translate to your setup.

Another Friday, another event.

Conquered my personal best at Joliet's Autobahn Country club by 3 seconds! Conditions were misty all evening, but the track surface seemed fine except for a few puddles here and there and some mud and grass on track from off incidents by other drivers.

Still on the same set of GT Radials I've been running all season. They just won't quit. Same with the Wnmax W5 pads. Had just about 8mm of material left before i went to the track last night. Loving both of them.

I set the coils to 6F/8R again just like at Road America. Car did fantastic, though I do wonder if I should stiffer the rear some like before. It'll be a journey to figure this out, but 6 from stiff front DEFINITELY feels right. Still on stock tune (Maybe ACE 350 next season?). Going back to stock sway bars was also definitely the right decision. It just feels so right.

Anyways, here's video. I have some cleaning up to do on my attack points for corners, bravery to find, and more speed to carry. Track Addict suggests a theoretical time of 1:44 if I clean up my act. :P

There's definitely time out there.

Thanks Turt.
I've really liked my toe both front and rear since my alignment only with the camber bolts, and will maintain those. I had planned to initially set the dampers to 5/8. And will stick to David's recommendation. And will be taking temps!

Since I've had to run high tire inflation due to the lack of camber, I'm not sure where to start cold.

First track day after alignment at Pitt Race:
took tire temps to hone in on pressures, second day playing with pressures.

Next track day at Nelson Ledges Race Course, I chalked all tire corners and recorded the tire wear after each session and rechalked.
YAY! Pretty much even wear on all tires!!

David@CSG has suggested -3.25° front and -2.75° rear.
What I ended up with was as much as we wanted to mess with. The rear is really a pain with stock toe links. Had to keep going back and forth with camber, then toe, etc.

It really is painful with the stock setup. Especially since the two are so relational.

more . . . .

My target max HOT tire pressure was 32 psi and seems to be just right!
was running new but old Hoosier R6's 225/40-18, square.
Now heading back to Pitt Race this weekend w/ Chin Trackdays!
(on a side note, and unrelated, 21 Dodge Vipers are slated to show up!)

Does anyone have individual or total weights for this set?

I didn't get to weigh them before I installed mine, and I want to compare them to the stock PP dampers.
