Mainly just more color options. I like how with the BRZ you can add the performance pack to any color. The 2019 TRD is still tempting though since I am a Toyota fan.

You sure about that? Wheels affect ride height, too.

Note that my ¾" taller estimate includes half the 18" wheel diameter plus half the tire diameter compared to stock 17".

A 3/4" difference is too much. Tire size calculator gives a 1/2" diameter difference:

New cars have a 4.3 fd, so a bit longer gearing cause of the bigger wheel should not be an issue. In fact, what you lose in acceleration per gear you gain in top speed per gear. You lose something and you gain something else.

I think I was using 225/40-18 for my calcs last night. Looks like the overall diameter of the tire is only 5mm bigger which is 2.5mm ride height difference.

Putting a wheel inside a tire doesn’t change the tire’s diameter. You only need to look at the outer diameter which is the tire. It’s not entirely accurate to go off the tire diameter though because the diameter is measured in an unloaded state. You would really have to measure the actual car to get an accurate number.

I just checked that too not sure where ATMO is getting his #'s its only .2" difference. Effectively only changes the Current 4.3 gear ratio to act like a 4.27 not a huge difference. The weight of the setup could be a difference but we need #'s first to determine how much.

I have a 860SE, so my wing tips and mirrors are Raven and yes, they have metal flake.

I could be overthinking it, but it seems like the tire diameter is one thing, wheel diameter another. They're additive, right? So if an 18" wheel raises ride height 1/2" above a 17" wheel, and the TRD tire adds another 1/4", it's a 3/4" total ride height increase over stock since you can't mount an 18" tire to a 17" wheel.
