Hmmm, if the GT86 is considered to be the middle brother, I wonder if the SFR will be released at some point as the smallest brother. One can dream right?

THERE! I would thank you several times for this if I could.
That is how an interview should be recorded. The actual questions followed by whole answers.

If they are still working on the SFR they have really kept it under wraps. Hasn't been a single word on it for about 3 years now.

How about this real interview released by Toyota.

Did he forget there is going to be a 4 version or just didn't bother mentioning it when asked about what the fans should know?

http://blog.toyota.co.uk/new-toyota-...r-tetsuya-tada

This sounds ominous though:

Tada- “Looking at the current automotive industry, the talk is all about autonomous driving, electrification and artificial intelligence. What that’s doing is giving rise to a lot of strict regulations, and that limits our capacity to make emotional sports cars; it’s getting much more difficult to do that. So for the fifth point, I think the new Supra will be the last present from Toyota to those who enjoy hearing the pleasing sound of a pure petrol engine at high revs."

I don't know, people in the states are pretty damn familiar with the Supra. I'm not talking about just car guys either. Although my perception could be skewed from living in Florida where sports cars and high end cars are a dime a dozen. I can look out my office window at our parking lot and spot an M2, SLS AMG, Bentley Continental GT, 458, 991, 981 Boxster, Tesla S P85 and most exotic.. an FR-S.

All those cars still fall in the .1% of people that know cars.

Mind you I can look out my office window right now and see a 1961 Studebaker

I understand that.. my point was my perception is probably skewed due to my geographical location. People in Florida know their cars. That doesn't mean the whole country does.

Doesn't mean they all know what a Supra is. Even in Florida I doubt the bulk of the population could tell you a Camry from a Focus without the badging.
The vast majority of people that would even know what a Supra was know from movies and have probably never even seen on in real life. When you consider that from about 1990 on they only sold about 3,000 a year spread across the country then not many "average" Joes were ever exposed to them.

“First of all, the Supra has always had an inline six-cylinder engine, and of course we have that with the new car, too."

He doesn't say only I6, or say anything about I4. So really nothing of substance was said in this interview, except maybe the remark about this being their last real petrol sports car. Which is also just speculation on his part.

I feel like I just need to start ignoring everything until an official spec sheet comes out.

Same goes for all cars yet they still make them and they still sell them. Hell people even bought the Pontiac Aztek. Hahaha

Yep. That is really my point! The general car buying public don't know shit about most models. They don't want to know and they don't need to know.

I agree. I'll wager that if, on our lunch break today, each one of us would stop 10 people at random and ask them "do you know what a Supra is" 90% of the sets polled, 10/10 would NOT have any idea that Supra was a car ..

Then ask them if they know what a Mustang is. Of the ones that say yes (probably 99%) ask them to name the trim levels and engine/performance options. You will get a bunch of blank stares (except for that one guy with a mullet that will rattle off every single configuration since 1964).
