For the street, a more powerful yet softer tuned motor would be the tits imo. Track guys might prefer the characteristics of a smaller, sharper motor though. For my use id prefer more torque that was there every day rather than whatever the ecu decides to give me.

Every time I see this thread bumped I get all excited for actual news and then get disappointed.

There are a number of different ways you could do this, and there are even ways that will allow it to work as both a marker light and signal. I wanted JDM functionality and the ability to easily go back to stock functionality.
I tapped into the positive and ground for the signal at the back of the headlight (I have '17 with the signal in the headlight, if you have an older FRS, you'll have to find your wires elsewhere), ran those wires over to the side marker. I used two tiny female blade style quick disconnects to connect to the male side of the stock socket/connector at the side marker. I zip tied my new harness to the old so I can very easily switch back and forth between the two inputs. Someday I'd like to track down stock connectors so I don't have to use the blade style ones, but it works for now. |

I was checking a Subaru document for the mid-term vision (2018-2025). There exists a bullet for the 86/BRZ
![]() The complete document is attached. |

No they aren’t. They are going to 8 speed transmissions, stop/start, etc. The new Camry, Avalon, etc have the same 3.5 engines with more power. New 8 speed transmissions. I work at a Toyota dealership.

I am not sure what is the relation of the Camry or Avalon with the 86/BRZ. The engine in our cars was based on a re-designed Subaru engine (FB20 -> FA20). In fact they are saying in the posted document that they are working on a downsized turbo engine, but not sure if such engine will be used in any next gen 86/BRZ model.

Someone in the executive suite at Fuji must have a brother-in-law in the spoiler manufacturing business. I'm wondering if v.2.0 86/BRZ will need the rumored larger engine to maintain current performance levels if the new car is built on a possibly bigger and heavier global TNGA-like 4-door platform rendered and mentioned in the document? |

I doubt that they would build a second gen twin on a 4-door platform. If they don't make another new chassis, I think it's more likely that they would build it on the same chassis as before, kind of like the S2K AP1/AP2.
