Now, even those that previously were not willing to skirt the law seem to participate and its definitely go big or go home.

Of course, given that I was one of the ones that used to take his sons on road trips to AL just to buy for the 4th, I can't exactly complain. I am a total pyro at heart.

Funny, I don't remember San Jose being as bad as it is now years back when the "safe and sane" fireworks were legal. It got real bad when they outlawed everything. I guess people figure, if they have to get them illegally, they might as well get the biggest ones they can get.

Was thinking I need new winter wheels, cuz stock wheels' offset won't work anymore due to new brakes. Got an email saying getting bonus on next paycheck. Hm... Maybe I can buy new winter wheels, or just pay some of cc off and buy spacers and call it good.

So my son and I just did a tranny/rear end fluid change in the lotus. In the last couple weeks we have done:

Lotus:
Oil and filter,
Spark plugs,
Air filter(,hardest job yet)
Tranny fluid,
Clean MAF,
Clean throttle body.

Truck:
Hood shocks,
Battery,

Porsche:
Tires,
Fix door striker.

Going to do oil and filter on 86 tomorrow night.

Lotus is running tits!

I'm hurting, but worth it doing car work with my youngest son. So happy!

For winter i would not worry about much, but tires must be quality. If i was, i would go with the "cheapest" option available and save money for summer car parts

Yeah, currently winter tires on stock. To run the stock wheels, I need 8~10mm spacers or get better offset wheels. Not looking for high spec or costly wheels. Just need17x7~7.5 w 35~40 offset to clear the calipers. If I can find used one in that spec that’s better.

Change brakes to stock when you put winter wheels on? Yeah, not a great option, but it keeps salt and crap away from your nice calipers...

Haha I didn’t buy Racing calipers & I’m not changing calipers every winter/summer. Pads? Sure, it’s quick 10mins to swap the pads. Calipers gonna be annoying.

Plus my calipers are these. Should handle winter & salt better than some of those racing calipers.

The balance will goto zero just keep working at it.

Humm aren't those the old WRX brakes? I thought I read on here yeons ago that they are pretty much comparable to our stock brakes?

Yup, prob finish paying it off next month or so. I rarely use that much, but due to wheel studs seizing along w caliper, I had to use CC to fix it ASAP.

Yup, it’s also same as stock calipers. Just they’re lil bit lighter than stock. This is why I didn’t say it’s an “upgrade” brakes lol

This calipers were pretty easy swap. They use stock rotors, so literally I just need to get calipers (+ few pins & clips) & pads and that was pretty much it. Nothing too hard.

I haven't lost any coolant in 3k miles. Lotus shop in Livermore wants $1050 to upgrade radiator. I don't want to attempt it since you have to take the entire front clam off. Everyone on the board says the stock rad is a ticking time bomb with the plastic end caps. I want to get it done for peace of mind, but if I wait till it fails my warranty would cover it, but getting stuck somewhere would suck. What to do....
