It's a WAR going on out here!

Yep, 4th of July.

In these parts, there are two kinds of fireworks .. legal and illegal.

The illegal ones are the ones like Bubba makes by taking a toilet paper tube and packing it with gunpowder and sticking a fuse in it. They don't bother me.

The illegal ones are the ones that are dangerous because the people setting them off don't know what they are doing … and glowing pieces wind up in our 70' tall pine trees that surround our house ..

Now, the law says that fireworks can be purchased within the county and set off on the Indian Reservation. But the Indians don't want you setting them off on the reservation .. because they don't want the reservation burnt up.

Now, just because our town is named Puyallup, after the Indian tribe, that don't mean that all of Puyallup is within the reservation..

As the war rages on …. I stand fire watch.

Anything that travels more than a foot off the ground is illegal here and I am surrounded by it. I don't really care as long as they clean up their trash in the street and knock it off at a reasonable time. It's funny that the city counsel passed a fee that gets tacked on to my water bill that strictly pays for more city cops, we have 7 full timers in a town of less then 4k. Haven't seen one all day.

Tons of idiots in my neighborhood lighting off huge mortar shells. Meanwhile my already skittish all the time cat is hiding under the bed, literally shaking with fear and breathing fast and erratically. Awesome.

It was a hot 4th of July, back-in-the-day, in San Jose, CA. We had invited my brother and his family up to spend the day and swim in our pool.

As the evening progressed my nephews ask me if I had any fireworks. I told them that I only had one … but, it was a BIG one. Just before I set off my one BIG one (which was a military artillery simulator), I warned them all.

Now the scene of the crime was my back yard, which had an in ground pool and a wall behind it (which made a little amphitheater).

I pulled the cord on that puppy and it whistled and went off. Oh, my, I had forgotten how loud they were … I said, I hope nobody calls the cops.

About 30 minutes later, my front door bell rang and my oldest nephew answered it and yelled out to me … hey, uncle humfrz, the cops are here for you.

Yep, they had triangulated the location of the "explosion" and it was me. I assured the officer that I didn't have any more of those "big firecrackers" that I had brought from Georgia and so he left.

We never bothered to buy fireworks as a kid. We would just send my friends much older brother into town with money and he would bring us back pyrodrex and cannon fuse. Until we got caught by the local cops and asked politely to knock that shit off.

ALERT:

I went to my e-mail and opened an e-mail from Fedex (or it looked to be from Fedex).

All I did was open the e-mail and it "took over" my computer with a bunch of warning stickers. I think I've got it to let go ….. but I'm not sure.

I'd suggest you not open any e-mails from fedex ….

Yeah I’ve heard that virus before. I don’t usually open any email if it’s not by someone I know or 100% sure it’s legit.
