Hmm, I imagine the car has some demo miles on it then? My guess (assuming it's not just the rev limiter) is the ECU learned something weird, possibly due to the dealer filling it with regular from the cheapest station in the area. This is perfectly fine and will fix itself if I'm right (or you can fix it faster if you want). If I'm wrong, it's got a warranty right? I wouldn't be worried myself.

One more note on the gizmos, the aftermarket support is huge. If there's something you find yourself wanting, it's likely been done before.

Agreed and great points. I’m pretty well convinced I want the car. I was thinking of getting the TRD exhaust and springs dealer installed. Without scouring millions of threads what’s the overall consensus on those products ?

It took me a while but I finally figured out how you figure where the parking stops are … they are ALWAYS one foot closer than you think they should be …

I have heard that they are both good products and "fit"(nice sound and makes it a bit lower) the car well.

Where in Ohio do you live?

I'd have to check to be sure (it's 1am and I'm lazy), but logic would dictate that the lowering springs should be stiffer than the standard ones, which means a bit firmer ride. If you are worried about ride quality, I'd recommend passing on the springs.

Don't make decisions on mods yet. Once you buy and drive the car past say 5000 miles then make a decision.

That's when I decided on getting a tune, uels and e85, and it really woke the car up.

I’m in a suburb north of Columbus. Work downtown Columbus. Are you in the area?

Not any more. I was born and raised on a farm SW of Columbus and spent five years attending OSU....

td stuff is usually severely overpriced and not worth it unless they are throwing it in for free. You can usually get great deals on auto's as they have a habit of sitting around, sometimes for a year or two because no one wants them.

I suspect you probably experienced the infamous torque dip between 4K and 5K RPM and probably didn't look down until you were past it. Go drive it again with that in mind and see if that's not what happens.

The rev limiter is not likely to be described as "hesitation." It's a jarring, sudden cut to the fuel that slings you forward in your seat. You would know if you hit it.

I rent cars fairly often and find the active safety garbage on the newer cars generally pretty irritating, so I like not having it on my BRZ. The car is responsive enough that you really shouldn't need them if you're paying attention.

I will say that the ABS on this car is about as good as it gets. It has saved my car at least twice from idiots pulling out in front of me. I wasn't a fan of ABS before, but this car has won me over.

A Chrysler 200 is a turd. You need active "safety" features in that thing in case you doze off pulling it out of your driveway.

I get periodic back pain from other causes, but never from my BRZ. I'm 48, 6', 285 lbs and have arthritis in both knees and feet. I drive between 20,000 and 30,000 miles per year, so I probably spend more time in my car than you do. I find this car to be pretty comfortable even with the stiff ride. I drove it 8 hours Tuesday with no issues at all that I wouldn't feel in any other car.

I rented a base Focus a few years back and didn't find it to be very comfortable, primarily because the seat didn't really fit my body. The seats in the 86 are not really designed for a fat ass like me either, but they're still pretty comfortable and definitely more comfortable than those Focus seats were.

So I really wouldn't use either of those cars as a benchmark. If it spoke to you when you drove it, buy it.

86 seats are absolutely perfect for me, but I have a MotoGP/F1 body.

I gotta say, I've driven alot of cars from the era when ABS first became a thing. Modern stuff post 2007 really have made, TCS and ABS really non intrusive when your driving "normally".
