Any mid-lifers (40 YOA+) buying the FR-S/BRZ?!!

This makes me sad when I'm almost 1/2 way into my life. I think a major reason why I got the BRZ Limited is because I am getting older and like to be in a nicer interior and less agressive looking bumper.

But that's no midlife crisis car to me - not at all. I simply tried over all the years to have a real sports car and lots of driving fun.

I love my BMW E36 323ti, excellent sports car! Much better than current BMWs.

I thought about a new BMW M3.
I thought about a new Corvette C6, too.
So to say, buying the Toyobaru will rather express wisdom of the old age: I realized, that lively handling, low weight and good driveability on small bumpy or wet country roads creates much more driving fun than lots of hp in a "fat chick".

Even if I finally would buy the strangest car of all, this wouldn't show midlife crisis, as I dream of these cars since >20 years!

I'm 48 and I would have been all over this thing at age 21 but it probably would have been out of my league cost wise. Incidently, I bought a new '85 VW GTI with manual windows and steering, crank open sunroof, and no air as my first new car. The MR2 or Celica GTS would heve been pricier then for sure. My friend bought the Corolla GTS '86 for a bit more money. The rear wheel drive was lively in slippery conditions and I always liked that car. You do only live once and although I really longed for a 2nd hand lotus Elise for a little bit more $, ultimately this was the more practical choice. Being in the Toronto area I am still pondering whether I will add winter wheels and tires to give it a go all year. Bought a 2012 xB last year as a fun hauler and might just keep that as the winter car. Will decide by the end of the summer.

Funny, if I hadnt opted for a very non-conventional choice in the xB last yr vs. leather, sunroof Accord or Passat typical choice for me Id never have been on the preorder list for the FR-S. Most likely would just be hearing about it now from the TV commercials. I luv my raven M6. It was the first shipment from the dealer and worth the price for sure. Yes the BRZ has a few extra niceties, but I am a Toyota fanatic and I prefer the front on the FR-S.

Most admirers giving me the thumbs up (there have been quite a few) are 20-something males.

Just turned 52 and i have always enjoyed driving and working on cars since i was 14. I bought a new WRX in 09 and have added lots of goodies to it to make more power and more driving fun. I have been keeping up with the FR-S/BRZ since it was a concept so it was a no brainer for me that i had to have one and keep my WRX also. I took delivery of my Firestorm 6spd manual on 6/2/12 and love it! Bought the FR-S over the BRZ because i work for Toyota Motor Mfg. in Georgetown, Ky. and could buy the FR-S a lot cheaper than the BRZ....more money in my pocket to modify the FR-S with. But anyway i don't think age has anything to do with wanting or buying a truely fun affordable sports car!

41, grew up with rwd E30 BMW, never really satisfied with any car since. Bought a 09 Yaris new, in 3 years just can't get the feel of the thing even with the trd suspension I put on, but its was the lightest affordable car at the time. Seriously considering this FR-S. I know its part midlife, hell we may go another 20 years without a light rwd car on the market and I suspect these things will hold their value nicely. Its an investment, yea a car like this is an investment more than an expense, thats how I can justify it. Are the insurance rates high?

VCMC has a track/lapping day on the 12th. Only $275 CAD. Rent, borrow or buy a helmet and you're good to go.

I ordered mine yesterday! I remember a Triumph GT6 in the late '60s that fit this well. When I look back - it had half the horsepower, nowhere near the handling and forget about things like air conditioning, power windows, etc. - however it did have roll-up windows! My how things have changed.
