I honestly would not want this car if I had to run with stock tune.

This. If not for the power bump, I'd want the OFT map for drivability alone. Idle is much better, throttle response is sharper, the rev limiter is soft and smooth. It's just so much nicer!

Yeah, it is money well spent. Catless + OFT is like a new car.

I have got to get another header! Catted p&l felt amazing. 20 hp with torque hole filled in completes this car imo.

I'm running the Stage 2 (catted UEL) however I am seeing people tinker around with these things. Is there more to them performance wise that I am not getting here? I want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck. Seems a little silly to put the tune on the car and just put it away.

Header + OFT was definitely worth it. I did the OFT + GS intake on my old '13 FRS and it was nice, but not much of a difference at all. Stg2 with Tomei ELH was much better though.

Doing those items made me lose all interest in adding forced induction; especially after seeing side by side how my car compared to my friend's with an SBD 300 kit on 7psi. Mine was definitely slower, but not anywhere near as much as I expected it to be.

i really need your opinion
It was absolutely worth it

You will get decent gains in the torque dip and through the rev range. It made the car way better all round, the idle is better, and its light throttle and cruise performance is way more jumpy and has more "get up and go"

Stage 2 93 octane with the UEL was way more linear and pulled harder than stock.
Stage 2 with e85 was night and day more power than stage 2 93.

The tablet is perfect for NA applications and it gives you an understanding of the car once you get comfortable enough to work on the tune yourself in romraider. This is a worthy investment and pairs perfectly with a catless header...

Depends the model year. If it is the revised MT car, then there aren't much gains just with a tune. This is what is general known with factory tunes on natural aspirated engines. They are optimal from the factory since they rely on advanced knocking management to retard timing on non ideal situations or not the best available fuel. Earlier models were an exception of the rule and they had a too conservative AFR on high rpms and it made sense to revise the tune.

Nikitopo, you are the one that disgraced ots v4 tunes, that rely on the same basically identical knocking/timing advance system as the stock tunes, except that v4 tunes knock less than stock tune (with 95ron/91oct).
So now you changed idea and repute the system with iam of 0.7 "optimal"? What changed? You finally realized you were wrong?

All people I read here with my17+ us cars (not talking of my17 european since they are even worse) are saying that tune on their car is improving a lot, since the logic of the newer us car, despite being similar to the older, is even more "random" since it seems it changes afr and power delivery from times to times

A tune is always worthing, my point of view. Even better if it s not a locked tune that you can revise any time you want without relying on somebody else

I wasn't referring about OFT particularly. My comment was more general about tuning. I don't have a MY17+ US car, but I've heard that the AFR on these cars is much better and more performance oriented. There are still cases where as you said it gets richer and loses power, but it is not the same like the pre-MY17 cars were the AFR was on high rpms ALWAYS rich. I guess it is a matter of preference if someone still wants to "fix" in the newer cars the factory tune or not. Personally, I would leave it as it is.

About anything else, I haven't changed my mind or realized something. A tune is what it is and as far it is created by a professional and does its job well, then you don't really need to change it constantly and it can be locked without any issues. Unless you don't want to have a car that you drive and have fun with it, but just have an "experimental" car were you just playing around with things like tuning and constantly changing peripherals and then re-tune and constantly logging to fix issues and so on.

Saying that personally you d leave as it is, is a thing.. Saying that make too few of a improving is another because it s not properly true.. And you too said that it looks like newer US car behave randomly so to have fixed better performance is already a nice thing that make the tune worthy

If you are happy with the locked tune i m happy for you, i indeed like to "experiment" since that experimenting teached me a lot and if i do upgrade i dont have to bother or pay anyone
