The NY burbs are another place where car mods are popular and when I see modded twins it's usually lowered, wide wheels/tires, exhaust and body kits. Lowering and exhaust are the most popular. It's hard to see underhood changes. |

[QUOTE=extrashaky;3098726]Yeah, wishful thinking from random people on the internet is always more accurate than actual sales data.
KBB is always wrong, i deal with a lot of total losses and people go to KBB for a value and think that is what they are going to get and its always wrong. if you really want to know what a car is worth you need to look at Black Book data or the manheim market report, its not random wishful thinking its actually dealing with this stuff and understanding that some website is not accurate. |

they are not free but if you're going to sell your car and want an accurate value you should pay for a service, people want everything for free these days. If you are in the market you should pay for a carfax membership despite it being not always accurate and the manheim report so you are educated on real world pricing.

Impossible! KBB is inaccurate, which would mean black book is inaccurate also! And since you should pay for a valuation service, any service you pay for must be accurate! |

I have a feeling that most owners think their car is in better condition than what KBB actually defines for them. No one wants to believe their car is average and in the middle, or lower, in the range. Mods actually reduce the price in most cases than add to it. So if you are going to mod your car, don't expect to get anything back for it, and this includes installing a turbo or expensive wheels. Lowering the car also reduces value. Upgrade your audio? Don't expect anything back for that either. |

[quote=evomike;3098858]That is the Black Book value according to the site. Still can't use the wholesale value as retail.

What is "Estimated Retail"? "Retail values are shown in MMR only for the convenience of our subscribers who need an approximate retail price. These retail prices are estimated mark-ups of actual wholesale values. However, Manheim does not currently collect data on retail values and recommends users incorporate additional sources of retail information to develop a more accurate estimate for retail prices."

To the original question about why you get so many low ballers or tire kickers for used examples of these cars is because it's very hard to get a loan for one. It's much easier to get a 30k loan for a brand new car than it is for a 15k loan for a 4 year old car. Because of this, a lot of people who these cars appeal to cannot actually afford them because it's unlikely they have that type of capitol up front.

So maybe I missed it, but all these low price twins are Scions. It seems like the BRZ sells for quite a bit more. What's the lowest priced MY13 BRZ going for I wonder?

Premium BRZs are about the same prices as the FRS. Limited's of course are a bit more. So are the very, very, very few Monogram or other special edition FRSs you can find listed.
