I pray that I’ll never know a day where I feel compelled to know the market value of my BRZ.

With my mileage, debris dings, dirty engine, worn driver seat and unpopular colour I probably wold be lucky to get $7K for it.

But I don't care because:
I bought it to drive damnit. I am not saving it for the next guy.
I fully understand the concept that buying a new car is not an investment but actually a depreciating asset.
I do not expect to buy things at the very bottom dollar and sell them for the very top.
If trading in I appreciate that the dealer has to make some money on it somehow so don't expect retail used car value.
There are 4 model years released after mine, each with incremental improvements so why would I expect mine to be the same value?
If I were forced by circumstances to sell quickly I would know that is going to cost me sice the lower the price the faster it would go.

Given the choice between FT86Club and NASIOC; the extra depreciation hit is worth it in forum community alone, and I'm not even that active on here.

I have never purchased a car with resale in mind. Every car I buy i plan to keep forever. When/if I do sell I usually sell to a friend for far less than i could get for it if I worked at it because I hate dealing with people. I have a 911 in the garage I've owned for 33 years. I'm way better at buying them than selling them.

Wear it like a floatation device and say it's a support device.

All good points and I think I agree solidly with all of them.

If Kelly's book has been blue for nearly 100 years, the real villain is Kelly's significant other.

I should have gone to bed two hours ago.
