How do you compare the FR-S to your old RX-8?

Congratulations, by the way.

Okay, so I'm lame and don't have an 86 yet (except in games), but I'm a big fan, and I'm decided; It will be the next car I buy. When I get a raise.

I've always been a big fan of sports cars (call me an italian), but I'm particularly drawn to 2+2 sports compacts. The lower insurance, occasional practicality, and typically awesome styling has always had me sold. I was previously jonesing for a new Eclipse (to replace my 97 RS), but now that this is out, I figured I pretty much had to have a drive.

Last night, I took my first trip to a dealer as a prospective buyer and had my first test drive, and even in the short time I had with the car from that, I'm totally sold. I really love the BRZ and can't wait until I can afford one.

Well, it's a lot smaller, and the rx-8 is by no means huge.

The car feels great though, the off the line performance is comparable and the feel is about the same with a slight edge to the fr-s.

The RX-8 is a great car, but I've had it for over 5 years and I just started worrying about the rotary dying and needing to be rebuilt soon.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense, especially with not every shop (or even Mazda dealership) being capable of repairing them in the case of engine issues.

But I bet the difference in fuel efficiency is of interest, haha. I used to post on rx8club.com (or whatever that site was), and I remember most people averaging maybe 22 mpg highway.

Man, I wish I got 22mpg highway. I think I averaged about 16mpg and would sometimes get up to 19. I'm looking forward to not stopping at a gas station as often.

Wow, it was that bad? Even my Evo destroys that in gas mileage (lifetime average is around 21-22 mpg, highway average is usually around 24-25 mpg, peak highway to date was a freakish 30.4 mpg in summer 2010). That must have been annoying throughout five years of ownership that included the two points in recent history where gas reached record levels (summer 2008 and spring 2012).

Hello everyone, I'm about to sell my 98 240sx and after looking at all the possible options out there, I am leaning towards wither a FR-S or a BRZ as my next car. Probably wont get it for a while but I figured I would be active and start joining some forums.

I’m proud to say that not only is ActiveDen an official sponsor of FITC Toronto 2011, but we’re also an exhibitor. That means that I’ll be at a table spreading the good word about Envato and giving away thousands of dollars worth of free stuff.
If you’re going to be there, be sure to stop by and say hi. If you do, you’ll get a free t-shirt and have a chance at winning all sorts of prizes, including marketplace credits, Tuts memberships, and a Rockable Press eBook.

Thanks the bespoke is cool but the touchscreen can be irritating i wish there were simple track/volume buttons on the steering wheel. Hope you enjoy yours too i have had a lot of nice cars but this one is probably my favorite.

Touch screen audio does seem very dangerous. seeing my sister changing stations and all in her lexus seems so risky and scary. lol i am enjoying it very much. speeeddyyyyyy ! lol. but yeah, i do wish that they had buttons on the steering wheel. however, i dont think it would make it look as sportyy . what other cars do you have??
i want a beat up manual on the side to drive around while i let this one sit at home and get paid off. xD i traded my ugly 2010 crv for this car. luckily they gave me 15g for it. and its been in one accident already :]
