My research had me watching several videos by Vortex Radar which I found very useful. Based on their suggestions your spot on that the R-3 should be looked at.

I've been rocking a Uniden R3 I made a custom wiring harness for to hardwire it into the accessory feed in the headliner that powers the Homelink mirror. It's mounted to the mirror with a Blendmount. It looks really clean and it works very well, I highly recommend it. All you need is a bit of wire, some heatshrink, a soldering iron, and some techflex and you can make a really clean harness setup.

A lot of radar detector threads but this one has the newest posts so I thought I would stick this here.
I have been using a cheap Whistler CR90 I got off eBay for ~2 years. So far no tickets but this thing has a short range and lots of false positives.
Almost all the latest what's the best radar detector reviews pick the Uniden R3 as #1. It's currently $400. on Amazon but I came across this on SlickDeals.
https://shop.pcmag.com/products/unid...r-detector-gps Using the 15% off coupon code PCMAG15 the price is $297.50, free shipping, no tax to TN. So I ordered one. Don't know how long the coupon is good for and the R3 keeps going in and out of stock on their site. If it's OOS check back in a few hours and it may be back in.

FAKE NEWS
You need to make an appointment with an optometrist, SON!
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/uniden-...?skuId=6188301

While I'm here, Pcmag also has the Uniden DFR7 for $127.50 shipped after 15% off coupon.
https://shop.pcmag.com/products/unid...ector-with-gps

Uniden R3 vs. Uniden DFR7
https://www.vortexradar.com/2017/05/...s-uniden-dfr7/

Edit 3/4: According to this deal site, https://www.techbargains.com/#d450459, the 15% off coupon expires 3/15.

If you want the latest and maybe the greatest you can pre-order the Uniden R7 from Buydig for only $599.99. https://www.buydig.com/shop/product/...th-Arrow-Alert

The R3 arrived yesterday by Fedex. It needed a firmware update. The invoice states to register the warranty under our distributor's name Beach Trading Company, 80 Carter Drive, Edison, NJ 0881. This is the same address as Beach Camera and Buydig.

Escort Redline. Radar Roy rates it’s tops. Plus undetectable by radar.

You can Google "What's the best radar detector" and come up with multiple review sites with different choices for #1.
Some still pick the Valentine 1, the new Uniden R7, others the Escort Max 360C, Radar Roy's pick. https://www.radarbusters.com/Best-Ra...ide-s/2683.htm

I personally like Vortex's reviews. https://www.vortexradar.com/best-radar-detectors/

Radar Roy died in 2016... Years before the Uniden R series came out. Anybody know which VCR is rated the tops right now?

Ripped from SlickDeals. Buydig via Rakuten, Uniden R3 $274.97 with coupon code, free shipping, tax?, must be logged into your Rakuten account to apply code. https://slickdeals.net/f/13074088-un...?src=frontpage

Great price. These go out of stock quickly so if you want one don't procrastinate.
