I can't really do it till next year anyway, but I need to not get time-invested...
Well now, Spuds ....... that build would be a fun project fer sure.....

However, before you embark on that, I suggest you arrange for some other financial considerations first:

* pay off all credit cards

* save for a down payment for a house

* budget for furniture for a house

* set aside expenses for one baby

* have available at least 6 months salary (for you or your wife to be) in case of unemployment

* have enough money to pay cash for a complete Exocet kit.

There ya have it ...... some "sense talked into you" (well, you asked) ......

Hey @Ultramaroon. Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas!

Hopefully it opens and works for you, but let me know if there's anything weird or that I should do better when I post it. Also, check my math!

(Note: Haven't tested it yet, so no idea how well my assumptions on geometry worked...)

Edit: So I forgot to zeroize the changes before and after. I think the final drive is the only thing I changed. Oops

Haha... I've been working on my version the last few days. Not ready for prime time.

Just opened yours and wow, I'm taking a completely different and greatly simplified approach. This will take some time to digest.

I also just realized that I F'ed up at least the speed vs time data. Didn't match the time scales. Its late and linear interpolation is kicking my ass right now lol...

Sorry, Im tired and didn't really think to explain it lol.

First couple rows are calculating the output of the engine in the current configuration (Crank output). Since I know the total weight of the vehicle, I know how much kinetic energy must have been imparted to it assuming a solid body. I then add the energy from the rotating components we care about to figure out the total engine output. Note, other losses are assumed to be taken directly from engine output. Not exactly accurate, but close enough for a hobby.

Then I remove losses from the new configuration until I get a "Useful Torque" number, which is what is left to accelerate the car linearly. Because that linear acceleration can be used to calculate the angular acceleration of the crank (no wheel slip and known reductions), I can close the loop and iterate, assuming the output of the engine will remain roughly the same as my initial calculations regardless of how fast it accelerates. I just do that 10 times and we converge on a solution.

Yay Math... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
